op she's right, and Miley (or her team) celebrating/acknowledging when her music does well commercially from a business standpoint (as she's literally signed to a label) still doesnt invalidate what shes saying here and a less successful project's artistic value and overall merit

Yes she did? It's pretty much what her Grammys acceptance speech was about. 

 

"This award is amazing, but I really hope it doesn't change anything. My life was beautiful yesterday." 

 

Is basically saying success isn't the most important thing in the world and she said it the night she won her first Grammys. Miley's always been thankful for the numbers but never at the expense of anything else.
