While the break was short-lived as "Where Have You Been" and "End Of Time" (UK) / "Dance For You" (US) were suddenly commissioned as final singles in April 2012, I expected the Alicia Keys, Kelly Rowlands, Jazmine Sullivans, Keri Hilsons, LeToya Lucketts, and Ciaras to take the opportunity and dominate the crossover market for a few months. A competitor from left-field emerged from the dark complete with a A&M/Octane record deal and a Vampire Diaries fanbase:

Whatever happened to Alexa Goddard lol. Always thought her sound and look made sense for success in her native UK so it was odd that Roc Nation never put out her album.

Not sure. They signed her based off of her cover of "Turn My Swag On" going viral and actually charting in the UK, so I know they tried an Urban sound first and put her with DJ Mustard ("Pretty Girls") for a little while.

 

 

When that didn't work, they suddenly went very pop. ("So There", "We Broke The Sky", "Until You're Gone", "Run Away")

 

They tried to take the Rita Ora route, but nothing ever stuck. Very surprising to me that a pretty girl with a decent voice didn't take off (for even one era) in the UK.
