Are the singles for Mariah's album doing their job?

First of all, I am a Lamb and I absolutely LOVE Mariah to death, just in case someone thinks that I am a hater.

I am being super honest here. I think that the first 2 singles of Here For it All are not doing their job in terms of initiating any interest for the album. I am disappointed. I have never been disappointed by any of her pre-released singles for any of her albums before. Type Dangerous and Sugar Sweet... Do you really think they are good singles? :deadbanana4:

The album is coming very soon and these 2 songs have not done anything to do their job. I get it that not all singles can be successful, but at least they need to be good for the people who used to support the artist. I am a fan but I absolutely find these 2 songs horrendous.

She didnt even want to film a video for Sugar Sweet :skull:

Mimi what are you doing? I love you but this aint it... I seriously do not feel like Mariah puts her heart in creating these songs. It feels like she doesnt even want to be in the studio.

I mean, for example, #Beautiful wasnt a very successful single commercial wise, but it was very well liked by the majority of people.

As someone who isn't really a Mariah fan (but i LOVED Caution) the singles just kinda came and went? I know Mariah already made a big comeback once and I won't be surprised if she could bounce back again but the singles despite music video and heavy radio push weren't really THAT memorable for the old audience to tune in and for the new people to check it out. I hope she gets the hit this era but I don't think her team really knows how to promote her in this era of music (seeing the Mr. Beast cameo was kinda eye-rolling and did nothing for promotion but cost millions to include him) and the feats. for the second song weren't a great choice in my opinion (the artists are fine but they don't have a strong fanbase to make the song more popular either) so it kinda fell flat overall. I think she has potential but these songs are good at best and we know that she can make HITSSSS.

This is exactly what I was wanting to say. These songs remind me that she is capable of so much more. She is THE Mariah Carey.

I'm not overly crazy on Sugar Sweet because of Kehlani but overall it's ok. I love Type Dangerous (and the ballad she teased a week or two ago) so I guess a bit for me.

I'll definitely be checking it out.

Kinda but we gotta understand that she's a diva past her prime over 30 years into her career so singles won't do much, the album will probably debut top 10 and then drop out the week after and that's that.

Yeah but can the music at least be good? :skull:

She wont get a hit again, she's over 50, past her prime and she isn't on her peak on creativity or talent-wise. I mean she's capable of so much better but she has nothing yet to prove at this point like i'm glad she is bothering to release music. Caution was an event that rarely ever happens to a diva past their prime and age so at least she has that.

But the songs aren't it at all I mean they are very forgettable but i'm sure the album will have some gems on it

Sugar Sweet shouldve been a solo song. IMO the features actually killed the interest (not because the artists are bad but because it doesnt really emphasize Mariah).

Maybe she has a big ballad waiting in the wing a la WBT lol

TD and SS are so much better than GTFO and With You.

They actually feel fresh and don't sound like Mariah is just reusing the same formula from her older songs.

They aren't good.. I honestly thought after Caution she was on a new artistic trajectory but sadly that doesn't seem to be the case. At this point I'm expecting the album to be mediocre which is not something I want to say.

I'd honestly rather have Someone's Ugly Daughter (Mariah's version) over Here For It All.

That train-wreck of a music video killed the era. At least she still has Christmas

I personally love the songs, but I completely understand what you mean.

Do I think they're top Mariah songs? No.

I'm just enjoying them for what they are, maybe because we've waited so long for a new era/music that isn't Xmas related, idk.

Even though her vocals do sound a little... off? (Particularly Sugar Sweet)

I'm glad she's not forcing those overproduced fake long belts that we know she can no longer deliver in a live performance.

If there's anything I'm not feeling, it's the snippet of Here For It All, I thought it was bad.

Let's wait and hear the album in full first

Absolutely not! She hit the spot with GTFO.

It's such a mood.

:jonny5:

"GTFO" is such a song that goes nowhere, no real peak and kinda bland vocals.
"With You" feels like another WBT rehash.

But honestly, even if the singles were weak, "Caution" turned out amazing.
I still think she's gonna deliver something on that same level, especially cuz these new singles sound way stronger than the Caution era ones.

Both singles are just not good.  The last first single I enjoyed was #Beautiful.

Of course, 90's Mariah will forever be missed.  Great song writing, melodies, singing.  Ugh

After the death of her mother and sister (on the same day :skull:) I really was surprised when she announced this album was coming.  I like Sugar Sweet, it's very Mariah but unfortunately neither of them have made splashes :katie:

Not even Mr Beast could save it :biblio: and I'm convinced she used AI for the Type Dangerous cover

Didn't know she still was putting out music till just now. Maybe she should get better marketing team

Atrl always holding Mariah to a different standard when no 50+ pop girl tracks in years have pulled numbers.

I'd say TD and SS > With You and GTFO and I hope the album tracks match the quality of Caution.

Let's be honest, she has a specific sound, and she made the most of it in the '90s, when her type of songs were cool. She will need Max Martin and a swedish team, with some kpop collaborations to make her happen again, but she is only living in Mariah's world. Which is also ok, she should make the music she wants to make, and who likes it, likes it.

An album for her is just a fun lil extracurricular activity at this point, and a gift for us.  I just want some good songs from it.
