The cherrypicking. Crazy in Love outstreams Telephone everyday and Halo (1.8b) has double the streams of Telephone (900m). Gaga is currently on tour as well.

 

Let's not act like Beyoncé needed Telephone's help when Sasha produced multiple global smashes and was a 22.8m selling era. Even without any features Beyonce would still be doing 10m+ streams daily which is great for her peers.

All this shows is she performed Bang Bang in China. That song is admittedly a big western song, but doesn't mean Jessie J is a big artist in China. 

 

Jessie won the Singer show because she performed great covers of already classic songs, not because she is the most famous celeb in the region. 

 

Jessie's albums and songs after Bang Bang all bombed in China.

I think better examples are huge collabs for artists who have other hits, like "Im Good" for Bebe Rexha, which was HUGE, but really led to nothing and I don't even think defines her discography or is a standout hit for her.

I mean yeah but at the same time the huge collabs are a way for people to find new artists and for those artist to get a completely new fanbase or gain new fans which for example Unholy didn't. It kinda ruined reputation for Sam Smith in general public after changing their image and Kim went from underground gay pop star to a basic pop chaser and comparing her streaming numbers to before the collab she had better "career" with semi good numbers for her niche. It did win both of them awards and scored really high on the charts but apart from that it did nothing.

Generally the collab with DJs or producers do not do anything for both artists nowadays (unlike in first half of 2010s) because most of these songs are just samples or have massive radio play so these songs are the definition of "just being there" and it doesn't help the fact that Bebe doesn't really have a fanbase so the song didn't bring her anything but it also didn't hinder her in any way. But apart from her first "hits", the rest didn't do anything for her career so you could basically mention any of her hit songs. I won't be surprised if she gets another semi hit this decade (which will be difficult seeing as shes not with any label anymore) and it will have the same effect. Ava Max and Anne-Marie are like in the same lane as her when it comes to those "hits".

It's crazy how Camila achieved succesful collabs but she still a flop these days, her career looks terrible.

 

It's even worse when you think she managed to pull a flop in PlayBoi Carti's career with I LUV IT meanwhile he was in his peak during 2024.

Carti's part in that song wasn't really the best according to his fans so they had no interest in coming back to this song.. I think her biggest problem is picking wrong collabs that era cuz basically nothing aged well when it comes to that from this era.

From what I recall MATM was massive in Europe but Britney had even bigger hits in the ITZ era than that, and it did nothing for Madonna's career either

Calm Down for Selena. The song was huge but it doesn't feel like it added much to her already successful career other than becoming her biggest song. The music she released after underperformed too.
 

It didn't really translate into big acclaim either (like a Grammy or something) so it feels just like one of her many successful collabs.
