Have you ever been in an LGR?

Have you ever dated someone who was vastly more intelligent (or dumb)? Did it have any impact on finding common things to talk about?

Do you believe that opposites attract each other?

my most recent ex boyfriend... we dated for about 55 days in 2023 and man… he was emotionally abusive, rude, and downright unintelligent! additionally, his chosen name was a misnomer and the opposite of his character

Spoiler

:sabrina: to give y'all a hint, there apparently is some youtuber who has the same name as him! he's the one who randomly did a face reveal that went viral I think

anyway he was very void of substance (and his singing voice was very bananis and avocadis  in a not great way while mine is more divaesque so there was even friction there) but I was so insecure that I caved and dated him far too quickly before really knowing each other. major mistake. he's kind of big in my city's DIY scene so it sucked how we broke up cause he had sooooo many people I met who'd fawned over him. it was just a rough time. I didn't know my worth then, I guess, and I don't know if I do now… but I wouldn't date someone like him ever again

Oh no :deadbanana2:

Unfortunately I'm attracted to men who look like they spend a lot of time in the gym and that does tend to be inversely correlated with intelligence. So yes

Yes, he did not have opinions or thoughts about anything besides what to eat for dinner, what clothes to wear or what bar to get drinks at. Few things made an impression on him, the only music that touched him was Travis Scott :skull: Despite this, he was into going to museums and look at art, but his takes were usually "It's nice. I like it" or "It's weird" at its most elaborate.

I don't know if I would say he was unintelligent, but he was not very reflective or critical, and that definitely clashed. I like sharing my opinions and hearing other people's thoughts, but he didn't have any. Conversations would usually die if it went beyond work or friends. I remember telling him that I wasn't sure that we were going to work out, as I didn't feel like we had much to talk about, and he said "why do I need to have opinions?" :dies:

Idk, I was young and inexperienced at relationships and didn't think it would matter that much at first, but now it's one of the things I prioritize the most in a partner. I need a little substance :gaycat:

I enjoy good conversations and witty sense of humor; therefore, I can't date a brick! I need them to have an attractive and captivating personality - dumb brick can't provide that.

However, I love ******* these dumb hot guys that are so dumb you can't even grow real feelings for them. It works both ways so I don't catch feeling!

Yes, multiple times, and it was an awful experience. I was being "open-minded" and not judging people from where they came from, which is how I ended up in that mess to start with. I don't mess with people from the north side of town anymore. And that's just what it is.

This is truly some of the dumbest discourse Twitter has started :rip:  (in that some people claim it's "problematic")

How is it problematic? :deadbanana2:

Yes. When I was in college I dated a guy and he asked me would you still date me if worked in a movie theater and I immediately ended it with him. :michael:

Because we should only date people who are at the same level of intellect as us. Otherwise it feels exploitative. It's a form of intellectual grooming.

Taylor won't get away with this! :suburban:
