MAGA candidate sparks backlash after burning Quran and promising to 'end Islam' in Texas

There has been a furious reaction to an anti-Islamic campaign ad posted by a far-right MAGA congressional candidate in which she sets fire to the Quran with a flamethrower.

Valentina Gomez, who is running for Texas' 31st District in 2026 as a Republican, shared the extreme video on X as part of her vow to "end Islam" in the Lone Star State.

Approximately one percent of Texas's population is Muslim.

 

Gomez has a history of posting violent stunts and using hateful rhetoric against Muslims, the LGBT+ community, Black people, and immigrants, in an attempt to gain notoriety to further a flailing attempt at a political career that has so far gone nowhere.

"Your daughters will be raped and your sons beheaded, unless we stop Islam once and for all," Gomez said before setting fire to a copy of the holy book.

I don't have a problem with people practicing whatever religion works for them. I have an issue whenever someone tries to force their understanding and limited comprehension of religion onto me. And that includes from people like her as well, because—make no mistake—she's much worse than whatever she claims to be liberating people from.

People should have the freedom to burn Quran or Bible without retributions of terrorist attacks

Far-right politicians are all the same... They have nothing to offer but hate. They shout aggression to prove how tough they are, and how they are different from the rest, cause with them in charge, no one will dare to be a corrupt! And nowadays, they also combat the "woke", that is a danger for all the kids, they also combat the eternal communism manace, that destroy the freedom, and, obviously, they fight and kills in the name of Jesus, cause they are christians and, because of that, they are always right and blessed all the time. How can a person who believes in Jesus and God can be a bad person, right?

And that's how they get TONS onf votes. I don't know how someone can be fooled by that, but it's been working in great part of the world.

As an ex-Muslim I wonder why these Americans from sheltered bubbles think they are doing something with these displays. Islam doesn't have a chance of taking over, so she's being unreasonable. She saw those 'no go zone' videos on YouTube and got traumatized.
