With their GAP ad I actually saw a moment where I could see traces of the old PCD in their. Their dancing is SHARP AF in a way that only PCD had going on for girlgroups...even other girl groups who did choreo couldnt dance as good as PCD because they were literally a dancing troop before becoming musical acts. I fee like Katseye could bring that next level performance quality with some sex appeal like PCD did all while not making the mistake of only having ONE person be at the forfront singing everything. I think this aesthetic and vibe would be way more lucrative for them than the K-pop aesthetic and sound atm which is doing fine but not breaking them out at the level they could get to tbh. Thoughts?

The GAP ad has HYBEXGEFFEN taking notes for sure. KATSEYE is the clear successor of BTS in terms of keeping them as a global name afloat, there's unlimited potential in 6 multinational talented gorgeous girls being in a sharp K-pop level girlgroup where all of them can sing and dance as good as one another. 

 

Willing to be their next record will absolutely be way more catty and sexy, imagine if they sang Sports Car by Tate McRae

No, they don't need to. One of the members is 17. Their latest EP debuted at #4 and had two singles on the Hot 100. They had a widely acclaimed Lolla performance, have a sold out tour starting in November, and are all over social media. The GP likes them + they're proving to be very marketable.

 

It makes sense for them to mature over time, but I really don't think they need to copy PCD's style to continue growing. If they suddenly ramp up their sex appeal, they risk alienating some of their existing fanbase (especially younger fans + fans from the East) that's been steadily growing since Dream Academy.

Like I don't consider them kpop. They get promoted and their fans are kpop-y but they of themselves are not kpop.

 

gnarly is like the most "we wanna be kpop" thing they did but at their core they don't give that. They feel like little mix combined with PCD and a sprinkle of blackpink. 

Idk what they need to do but whatever I saw in that GAP ad needs to keep happening because it has me watching their show on Netflix now

The way I already informed op in another thread about yoonchae's age in response to the same exact pcd comparison and he still posted it again 

The smartest move right now would be releasing a slutty bop with a milkshake sample and reuse the ad choreo and keep releasing PCD inspired bops with some cute r&b ballads.

They don't have to change anything. The only thing that will make or break them is having catchy easy to sing along songs like every big girl group did. Like imagine if milkshake was actually their song. It would probably be a global smash.

 

Also even though PCD was kinda slutty they also had that girl power thing going with songs like wait a minute and i don't need a man which I feel katseye doesn't have yet. Even fifth Harmony was all about "girl power" which attracted a lot of teen girls as fans.

It is happening. Their music videos already have 30-40 million views of them doing the exact same thing they did in the gap ad for the past 2 years. This just gave them way more exposure.

That's what I've been saying since the beginning. They are so skilled and talented and perfect for a PCD music and concept. Their kpop methodology training with a PCD-style music and image would be a slay. But Yoonchae is still very young so maybe not right now.

Well some of the members are already hyper-sexualized even if the music might not always give that. But I agree with you, they'll mature their image over time when they're all in their 20s and thats perfectly fine.

mess  what i mean by PCD vibes tho was elaborated in the OP. As in dancing more in a troup type of way instead of perfect k pop dance formations not the sexual undertones that PCD has also the type of music! the gap add used Milkshake by Kelis which has a very urban and south asian and middle eastern vibe to the instrumentation like Dontcha & Buttons by PCD. I feel like it suits them way more tbh

They need to get better music that shows off the vocals of whoever in the group can sing. Their current vocal/music side isn't cutting it. They couldn't even do the GAP commercial to one of their own songs.

KatsEye clearly has a K-pop identity.

In the Gap ad, it reminds me of Le Sserafim, not PCD at all. If it's not about building a narrative as a team, practicing together, and growing like K-pop, then it's better to just be a solo artist.

They kinda are except for musically. The problem they face is that the PCD demo vault was immaculate while the HYBE demo vault is crusty as hell. They've still not had one good song imo and that's a shame because their talent is off the charts 

They already have everything else they need; it's just that their music is really bad. 

As many people have pointed out already, Yoonchae is 17. I expect as she turns 18 later this year that the next comeback will be more mature and that they'll develop as they get older.

 

The image change in Dani in less than a year is crazy, so just imagine what we could be looking at next year in terms of image.

 

it's just the music. HYBE doesn't put out good music, they're OBSESSED with chasing popularity instead of authentically building an in-house production team that can craft their style. NewJeans had MHJ who has shaped kpop for 2 decades and actually has great taste, which set the trends! The contrast with their music with the other hybe acts is loud and clear.

Yes, but when they rigged Yoonchae in and gave them debut as their debut I saw the writing on the wall and have given up hope. Adela won!

No disrespect to PCD, I love them and they are iconic
