Addison Rae talks Gaga's "Nothing On (But the Radio)" demo and opening for Lana.

Featured Replies

Addison Rae opened up about everything from Lady Gaga's version of "Nothing On (But the Radio)" and opening for Lana Del Rey at the Grammy Museum on Thursday night during a conversation with Variety's associate music editor Thania Garcia.

During the moderated Q&A, Rae discussed Lady Gaga's version of "Nothing On (But the Radio)," a track that Rae recorded and included on her 2023 EP "AR." "I did know that Gaga recorded it, which was really cool," she said. "I got presented the opportunity to cut a version of it and I thought that was really exciting and fun and we changed a few lyrics. I think it was a song that she got pitched and she recorded it. I don't really know exactly the reason why she never put it out, but everything happens for a reason. I would love to hear her sing it again, though, now."

She reflected on opening for Lana Del Rey during her Wembley Stadium shows in London last month, and duetting with Lana on "Diet Pepsi."

"It was a massive thing to throw myself into," Rae said. "The main thing for me was that I wanted to have a lot of fun while I was out there and I was lucky enough to be able to talk with Lana before the show and before I went out there and sang with her too, which was really nice and comforting because she's just so kind. I think it was a challenge, but there was such an opportunity for me to learn so much in that moment. I think the pressure didn't feel as grand or as scary because it was a spot to warm the crowd up."

The way that song went to waste :chick3:

It's not like Gaga was ever going to release it anyway

Now we need Addison to gets more Gaga and Lana rejects such as Cake Like Lady Gaga and Go-Go Dancer :jonny:

If GaGa would have released it 2009-2012 it would have potentially been a #1 hit. It's one of my favorite songs from her. I like Addison but her version is so much weaker and less punchy than GaGa's.

i'm not sure that i believe she didn't know or no one on her team told her that Gaga had cut that demo before. i mean it's kind of weird otherwise that she just randomly dusted off an over-a-decade old demo that has some wonky lyrics just randomly .. if anything it was the perception of her transparently coveting praise from the long term chronically online gays that were even aware of the song's existence that made me start to like her ! i was like ok diva appeal to my niche lil f*ggy interests

oh :skull: my eyes read "didn't know"

the fact that a lot of the talentless girls like Heidi and Addison are getting Gaga's best scraps. I'm glad her version of Fashion actually got a release on that soundtrack :deadbanana2: put it on streaming!!

And it was supposed to be on it, but was scrapped late in production. It was competing with Temple, Brooklyn Nights and Mary Jane Holland for track #12 :gaygacat7:

And the worst one made it. Well...

Still can't get over the fact that Gaga never released the song herself. It's like the perfect pop song :deadbanana:

Nothing on but the radio didnt make it but Jewels and drugs did?
CHILE

Gaga jas terrible taste for scrapping the song. Literally makes zero sense. The song his a perfect and beautiful pop track and even has like a nostalgia and sad factor to it even tho it's a bop with simple lyrics. She really messed up here and I'm not one of those ppl that want their artist to release every mediocre demo lol. Some of the demos monsters are obsessed with aren't good songs or just ok songs but this? This was a quality smash hit wasted. So weird
