Songs like Dancing's Done or Call Me Tonight would have been enormous hits with the right circumstances.

Sharing management with Carly gives me hope that she'll finally tour for years and release albums even without chasing hits.

This feels like a true career reset, and this album has been a healing and transitional moment before the really great stuff arrives. So excited for her!

I second this! I believe she does have musical identity, as opposed to popular discourse about her. Her identity is pure dance pop and eye candy visuals. And she's been very consistent so far. An example of an artist without identity would be Dua Lipa... Nothing comes to my mind when I think of her identity.

How is she known for eye candy visuals

I feel like that interview was very surface still. Idk. I'd like to see the interview on video. 

I feel really bad for Ava, but I have the impression that when people criticize her is because they see huge potential in her which remains unexplored (at least that's what I'm coming from).

"Her identity is pure pop" is just another way of saying she doesn't explore new sounds or tries anything too out of her lane on her albums ever, which might be okay for some, but you don't keep people tuned in with that.

I really admire her her work ethic: There is always another single, collab, or album coming even if the label support isn't there.  Already looking forward to the next one

This gets me thinking — maybe she really doesn't need some kind of manufactured persona. Is it not enough to just make catchy dance pop for the gays? Let her be a hot girl hitmaker without shoveling her entire life to the media? What a groundbreaking concept

I honestly feel bad for her, she tries SO MUCH to be unique, but has no idea how. Even bringing back that awful haircut is not gonna make it happen. 

 

She is talented and has cool songs, but I don't know a single person that would say "I love to listen to Ava Max", like at all. She's truly as faceless as you can be.

She may not top D&D but this album is most definitely better than her debut with him. It's actually not even close

I don't think it's an option if you actually want to have a career. Being just a "hot girl hitmaker" won't make people want to go see her live, if we judge by her tour getting canceled with low sales. A career based on sex appeal also has a very limited time frame unless you can connect with a audience, and I don't think she has any audience except for some hits that people don't even know who sings the song. 

 

And I'm not trying to be mean or something, it's just the reality of it all.

I didnt know about all this stuff, but thanks for making me aware. From a personal standpoint, she did the right thing. From a professional standpoint, I dont know...

nothing on here is better than Naked or Born To The Night though so not too much...

She genuinly seems to be a nice girl. I wish her the best.

Seems like she has a on-screen role in The Devil Wears Prada 2.
