Did Carly Rae Jepsen walk so Taylor Swift can run?

Featured Replies

I was thinking about how Carly really brought back the whole idea of B-Sides (NOT saying she invented them or started the concept) and releasing extra music outside of formal "album eras"  and it struck me that's what Taylor does with her "from the vault" and extended album editions like The Tortured Poet's Department: The Anthology.

Do you think Taylor took notes from the "LA Hallucinations" songstress and saw Carly putting her gorgeous B-Sides out, and thought she could therefore just lump any old demo and voice note onto increasingly bloated albums?

We wish Taylor would copy CRJ even harder so that the vault/deluxe tracks would get more room to breathe

Didn't Taylor debut years before Carly and has been releasing B-sides and deluxes of her own since her first album?

Taylor was literally a year into her career while Carly was losing on Canadian idol. :deadbanana2:

Taylor was already doing this with "Fearless (Platinum Edition)", which was released in November 2008 -- 8 years before Emotion Side B.
