as a software developer, I use it. Principally as a more efficient version of google/stack overflow. I don't vibe code at all.

 

but i want it to die. i dont trust bad actors with it, the same way i dont trust bad actors with nukes. 

 

 

It should move backwards and should stick to only research activities like breast cancer detection. The existence of LLMs (like ChatGPT) is making the newer generation of students dumb and lazy

I want it to move forward, and to be honest it has such a big potential to improve our lifes and move us forward as a society, that no matter what you think, it WILL move forward.

 

The point is, that access to AI should be regulated - even nowadays you can easily see so many problems with everyone having access to it. The more advanced it becomes, the riskier it gets.

this is a good question and im in a catch-22 with it. on one hand i want it to significantly improve, i want to see how far it can go. we have a limited amount of time on this earth and i want to see as many huge technological advancements as possible - if i could live forever, i would, purely to see all the things we'll be able to do with tech in a few hundred years.

 

on the other hand it is becoming scary - the AI generated music, AI generated influencers/tiktok videos… it scares the hell out of me and AI seems to be (one of the many) reasons as to why the internet is becoming less enjoyable and more desolate.

 

i think im leaning more towards just wanting to see how far it can be pushed though, because at the end of the day, there's always the option for me to just… log off and go outside to enjoy the real world  

I have to use it for work but truthfully I want it to devolve.

Preferably, it would cease to exist or go back to how it was several years ago.

 

Hoping for severe regulations, unavoidable watermarks, and smarter algorithms that can detect any and all AI-regurgitated content.

 

I want it to move a bit forward but that's about it. It has been incredibly useful and harmless at the same time so far. Only the visual AI is damaging I think. 

It needs to be regulated for sure.

 

I guess it's perfect for a enhanced google search, grammar and syntax corrector, doing basic tasks for you (retranscription, searching the web for you) etc.

I don't think it's needed much.

As a teacher its simultaneously a huge timesaver but also a complete scourge with my students using it so much to cheat. So I feel conflicted 

I NEED it to learn how to do my laundry and fix my washing machine

I've been testing ChatGPT for work and it's honestly been a really useful tool in effectively summarizing vast amount of information into cohesive and easy-to-understand concepts. I do, however, feel remorse about the fact that at the end of the day it's all pulled from content/work made from a source/individual who'll never be compensated for initially creating what the LLM scraped.

 

I'd honestly be a lot more open to AI if A) there could be retroactive policy that compensates creators of the content feeding LLMs and/or B) if it wasn't being integrated into the world by the absolute worst people on the planet who only care about profit and have never known what it's like to live the life of an everyday person.

I never used it. But I see everyone else around me is. Idk I haven't found a need for it yet

it needs to move forward in medicine significantly tbh, they have ai that pinpoint specific cancerous cells for certain types of cancer atm for radiation therapy and it's legitimately one of the most insane things ever. if they can do that with risky surgeries (like they already do with some knee/eye surgeries) that have a high rate of surgical error, it would be the greatest advancement in medicine in a while. 

i wouldn't be happy with it until it develops the capability to **** me in the ***

I want it to move significantly forward, but only as it relates to education and learning. I don't like or care too much for AI as it relates to artistic purposes, but I like the information it can provide.

It can never teach you anything from the beginning even on High School's level, you need real teachers. I tried it with biology and it did not work well. However if you are stuck in some details it really helps you a lot. So far it has only been helpful and any step forward is good but only if it does not overly outmatches the level it already that's a problem.

 Like level 8 to level 10 at most.

Honestly it's wonderful to get informations, meta analyses, sum up studies.... 

I want it to be better at rendering images and designs. It almost always fails to generate the most basic things like a list in a copy/paste format or a CV. 
 

and then it offers absurd apologies and basically falls back on plain text

Move forward but more regulated.
