In May 2025, Trump appointed FCC Chair Brendan Carr doubled down on his threat to revoke the licenses of CBS's dozens of wholly-owned local broadcast affiliates amidst drama surrounding claims of a politically motivated editing of a 60 Minutes interview with Vice President and presidential nominee Kamala Harris that was later debunked.

 

Carr wrote an entire chapter in the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 book touching on media control, among other themes.

Absolutely depressing.  MAGA republicans having this much of a stranglehold on the industry is alarming. 

Guys I'm telling you, we're cooked in America. Anyone holding on to midterms or having Trump out of office or some progressive savior to rise from the ashes to save us…is still in denial. Trumps already threatened to jail Mamdani. I don't think everyone has grasped how bad things are yet or I'm delusional and I'm hoping I'm delusional af at this point and completely wrong. Like when I go into stores and look around at everyone going on about their daily lives blissfully unaware of what's coming I'm jealous. 

But didn't people know BILLIONAIRES own media? Media is owned by corporations, led by billionaires who traditionally vote conservative for their own gain. They were always going to do evil **** like this.

Grassroots inspiration to counter it seems to be reactive as opposed to proactive out of resources being stretched thin, independent media involved in infighting or being splintered, and  the right's current effective strategy on multiple issues of flooding the zone.  

The way the corruption doesn't phase me anymore.
