I'm looking to get into new music outside of the usual girlies discussed on here. Please share your favourite artists/albums/songs if you'd like. Thank you 

I worship Depeche Mode, my fave album of them is either ULTRA or Songs of Faith and Devotion, love their grungy era so much.

I find that it's generally easiest to get into new catalogs by listening to an artist's top songs / essentials playlists. It can be an especially good way to get into those with large catalogs. Ignore contemporary pop and get into the legacy acts. Tina Turner, Dolly Parton, Cher, Nancy Wilson, Dinah Washington, Kylie, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, Nina Simone, Dusty Springfield, Shania Twain, George Michael, Eartha Kitt, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Tracy Chapman, Peggy Lee, Billie Holiday, Carly Simon, Julie London. Some of my favorites, a handful of them quite recently so (half of this list is ladies of jazz promo).
 

 

 

 

But I'll also suggest some of my favorite albums under the country/folk umbrella, although a lot of them are arguably more singer-songwriter or indie leaning. All are worth listening to, even if you think you don't like "country" music.

@rebeltwat Wait don't listen to any of these  they're all horrendous and I posted them as a joke. I didn't see you were actually looking for recommendations. 

 

For sure listen to the album Violator by Depeche Mode. If you're a Madonna stan, you'd definitely like this album. I think other people in this thread have mentioned Depeche Mode as well. I also love their Construction Time Again album but it might be too left field, experimental, and weird. But if you're into American Life or Madame X, maybe you'd enjoy it. 

I'll just recommend my all-time favorite album.

 

From my last.fm these are my top albums from artists other than MPGs or pop girl adjacent artists. I'm leaving off people like Lana, Aaliyah, Aretha,
