Max basically owned the 2000s and early 2010s, Britney, Katy, early Taylor, The Weeknd, Ariana, even Backstreet Boys. The charts were his playground.

Jack's rise felt slower but hit deep. Lorde, Lana, Sabrina and especially Taylor from folklore to Midnights, 2022–2024 was pure Taylormania, and Jack was behind most of it. He's become the sound of modern sad-pop. Feels like he's on Max's level now, just with a different vibe.

Jack has a handful of songs I enjoy but overall they're so ******* boring  I blame him for the snoozefest most mainstream pop has been the last 6/7 years

??? Max Martin is legendary. Those hits are big until today   This Taylor Swift /Lana del rey hybrid music you mentioned is not even the best work of their own artists and style

Max Martin has been a major part of the soundtrack of my life ever since I first heard Crazy in '99 soooo easy decision 🇸🇪

Honestly? Neither, but at least Max isn't trying to sell generic pop as pseudo intellectual hipster bs.

max because i am very basic, he just wants to make the people happy and that's what he's good at :toofunny3:

tbf to jack tho i think he can be good when he's cheerleading for someone who knows what they want, his albums with people like st vincent, clairo and lana are really good cos he encourages their best instincts imo, his best stuff with taylor comes when you hear taylor more than jack i think (esp - controversially! - on lover)

i'm less keen on stuff that has the actual jack sound tho, esp the jack drums (eeeek)

Max is more legendary and Ariel Rechtshaid is a better producer than Jack.

Jack is still very good tho.

I enjoyed classic Max Martin in early 2000s.

I enjoy most of Jack's productions, though I think he is more likely to re-use sounds. It's very evident in his Bleachers self titled LP which sounds like it was taken out of Lana's production choices for her post-NFR albums. Likewise a lot of his earlier productions with Taylor was very Strange Desire coded, which I loved at the time but in retrospect, not so much.

I have a soft spot for Jack since I used to frequently go to his Shadow of the City concerts before he became a super in demand pop producer, though.

Max Martin is a musical genius.

Jack Antonoff isn't. He can craft a cute tune together but he simply does not have the same skills or production abilities as Max Martin. Hope this helps

max martin isn't just 00's and early 2010's, blinding lights is the most streamed song of all time

not to mention his other songs with the weeknd, ariana grande, taylor...

lets say your fave announced an album TODAY created with max martin.. fans would be positive and even think it'll be a guaranteed hit. You find out your fave is doing an album with Jack in 2025 and the comments would be very telling

Girl how. Have you heard the production on Sling, Solar Power or Tortured Poets? Those instrumentals are monotonous and one-dimensional af.

You cant compare that to the excellent synth pop production on Dawn FM, the incredible production qualiy and craftmanship of songs like …Baby One More Time and Style.

Jack Antonoff made some nice instrumentals on NFR by Lana but that is all there is to his name. Beyond that literally nothing he produced is that significant.

Edit: oops Its about what you prefer not whats objectively better but still

Max productions are genius and he has built an musical empire where he has a legacy through his co producers to carry the torch of pop music once he's gone how Dennis pop did and max took the torch.

jacks productions honestly remind me the productions of the ******* guy when I was in college. They are basic and they try to sell their shitty production as minimalist and deep when they aren't this good at production

Both are washed beyond belief but I guess MM has a more impressive creative peak

Max Martin. I have to be in a mood to prefer Jack Antonoff's productions, which are great as well.
