This is literally how award shows work. If your fave has ever won a GRAMMY, they have engaged in some level of campaigning. 

Themselves calling it a "small controversy" implies it's not that deep. 

 

This isn't a Golden Globes exposé.

I have not that's why I'm asking lol, I know artists go to extreme lengths for promo and such but wasn't sure about upfront bribes like this 

 

(obv not including the shady behind the scenes handshakes sand gifts 'alleged' for things like the grammys)
