ATRL is always split whenever Taylor Swift releases a new album.

What kind of album would she need to make to get universal approval from ATRL?

From ATRL? Upbeat songs, EDM exclusively, no ballads or anything under 140 bpm, driving synths and vapid but not stupid lyrics, cannot use any producer she has used before ever, cannot contain any features. Has to be like 1989 but not close enough that she isn't reheating what she's done before, but not too far away that people feel like she's trying to be something she is not OR stepping on the feet of another pop girl who has treaded that territory before. Has to perform top of the charts and every single needs to remain #1 from now until her next album.

taylor will never get universal approval from ATRL, it is a website used by haters to drag popgirls, whatever she did there would be a large group of people who would drag it even if they secretly thought it was the best album ever released, or at least would think that if it wasn't by taylor swift

Most albums that have "universal approval" by ATRL are bombs. So let's hope it doesn't happen :suburban:

Mix the choruses/hooks of 1989, the lyricism of Folklore, and the production/intrigue of Reputation.

Find an intriguing concept that works with her writing style and stick to it. For ex. Letters (from war, heartbreak, as historical figures, divorce, affairs, a 1930s starlet not making it in Hollywood but lying to her family that she is, pen pals... the opportunities for creativity are endless).

No Jack Antonoff.

Add one key writer or two who can switch things up lyrically a little bit (not a writer-artist like Julia Michaels, Ester Dean, or Tayla Parx who have shared their essence with many stars). I'm hoping she finds a female Nashville co-writer, and possibly a female co-writer who does Broadway musicals.

Oh Miley don't make that face.

Not possible. If she made an album to ATRL's taste, it would flop with the GP

If it flopped with the GP, ATRL would drag it

folklore was received quite well, i don't think any artist gets a "universal approval" on here. stans are very tribal

Considering folklore didn't have universal approval, I don't think ATRL will ever not take issue with her.

I feel like the only albums that get universal approval on ATRL are ones not big enough for people to make it a personality trait to hate it.  Like CRJ's emotion or Lana's NFR.
