Jack Harlow turns down Jesse McCartney offer for Beautiful Soul sample

Featured Replies

Embarrassing to publicly beg like this. And it's equally embarrassing that he was trying to put his stock into someone who doesn't really have any hits besides one, and will more than likely, not have a lasting career.

Weird thread. Where's the begging? The desperation? At least post the interview/podcast from where this was taken. Wanting to set up Jesse McCartney out of all people in 2025...

He approached Jack Harlow asking him to sample the song and Jack said no. The desperation is right there. Why would he approach a one hit wonder and ask him to sample his song? What artist goes around asking others to sample their songs? An artist who is desperate for a check.

It was the 20th anniversary of the song and he wanted to do some sort of thing with it. Jack Harlow is friends with him and Jack declined because he already had a big moment sampling other artists. Idk, it's a pretty memorable song from the 2000s for many of us, I don't think it's far-fetched for it to be sampled, or that he asked out of desperation. (unrelated but I love your music taste omg)

Firstly, Jack Harlow has like 3 #1 hits and another massive one that peaked at #2(?). Hardly a one hit wonder.

Secondly, what did Jesse McCartney of all people do to you? :deadbanana:

Just watched that bit and it's just Zach's messy ass doing the heavy lifting with the unnecessary shade (as usual, unsurprisingly). Jesse was kind saying she sang the hell out of it in a way he would never be able to. :rip:

I haven't thought about Jesse McCartney this decade until I saw that tweet. Beyond that, my point about Jack Harlow not having a lasting career still stands. He's a nothingburger artist. An empty vessel.

Beautiful Soul is an immaculate song and his Departure album is severely underrated. This explains more context that I didn't have beyond that tweet and I was not about to go searching for whatever interview it was. The Jack Harlow of it all is just… to be blunt , I don't have any respect for Jack Harlow, so Jesse trying it with him of all artists is just… at least pick a pop star, who can guarantee him some success.

Well yes another user provided more context so I changed the title.

Why would anyone respect Jack Harlow?

That is so embarrassing.

I hoped he would use that "Bleeding Love" fuel (once his last major label album was shelved by Hollywood Records) and become an in-demand songwriter. Have his mentor (at the time) Ryan Tedder take him under his wing. If he had did that, I'm sure he would have credits on projects from DNCE, Nick Jonas, Jason Derulo, Justin Bieber, Jordan Fisher, Maroon 5, Mike Posner, One Direction, 1D solo albums, and Shawn Mendes by now. :katie:

Jack, while his friend, does not sample very well.
