Would you like your fave to revive old albums via new tours?

Featured Replies

Back in 2019, J-pop queen Koda Kumi held what she was referring to as a "Re-live tour", which was a throwback to her 2007 album Black Cherry and her 2013 release Japonesque.

The tour focused on these two albums and their respective tours, but were re-imagined and featured far more elaborate stage production with the 2019 money and resources she didn't have back when she toured these albums the first time around.

Obviously most artists when they go on tour they perform some of their old material, usually the hits, but I can't think of any one other than Kumi would put on a new album-specific tour years after these albums came out.

Is this something you'd be into?

mb 1 concert for a 20th anniversary celebration. otherwise no, it seem like a waste of money.

It's a fun idea but I don't think any of my favs need to do it. A greatest hits or a deep cuts tour that covers their entire discography would be preferable for me.

Koda Kumi is really a revolutionary isn't it?

- 12 consecutive weekly single releases

- A full visual album

- Re live project

Always surprised me that anniversary tours for blockbuster albums weren't more of a thing. Could easily be a nice little summer tour for anyone who's got a catalog album of enduring relevance.

We are praying for the Speak Now Anniversary Tour to happen someday.

Maybe a One Night Only special concert but not a whole tour. I feel like the shows he gave back then (FS/LS and 20/20) are still good even with all the tech we have today so there's not really a need for an "updated" tour.

yes. a queen. and to think she's done it for her best albums.

yes. like I'd die to go to confessions tour/erotica tour

Usually this is only meaningful if the album was kinda flopping/rollout had issue/tour cancelled right? Just like Taylor Swift with Lovers.

But Why not just a greatest hit album? If the songs are impactful, the songs will get popular with newer gens.

It is kinda happening to many of the artists that are touring. Eras was one of the great example, followed by Gaga (but it wasnt a greatest hit tour, more like side effects). Even Katy also have her discography getting more  streams after her tour started

Alanis Morissette tours off Jagged Little Pill basically every year at this point :suburban: so she's an example.

I think I read U2 doing a special performance of the Joshua Tree but I'm not sure

I think it would be nice for Coldplay to make a tour combining two or more albums under a single concept, like Parachutes and Ghost Stories, Viva la Vida and Everyday Life, etc. I wouldn't enjoy proper anniversary tours though. Could you imagine sharing the nosebleeds with "fans" that spent the last 20 years shitting on them? Ew.

My fave probably doesn't even remember she used to be a singer so... my hopes are pretty low :suburban:

Rihanna stan? :suburban:

Not really, I am however into reissues of old albums with rare material like regional bonus tracks, bsides or vault songs finally seeing the light. Kylie's PWL boxes are a great example of a collector's reissue done right. Imagine something like that for True Blue or Erotica, or Britney's albums :jonny4:

I saw Peter Gabriel on an anniversary tour for So, and it was amazing. So, sure!

There are way more chances of Rihanna releasing an album than my fave :suburban:

You have no idea of the extreme lengths XO would go for The Weeknd to do this type of tour honouring the "Trilogy" mixtapes. Ditto for a tour revisiting 2013's "Kiss Land" - the underperforming debut album that has since achieved major cult status within the fandom. Ideally, these would take place in smaller venues and feature a more intimate setting reminiscent of his early beginnings as an underground artist.

I'd also be intrigued for a potential "After Hours" anniversary tour incorporating the original, storytelling-driven vision that was scrapped due to the pandemic, "Dawn FM" 's release, and the shift to a stadium tour.

Granted, Abel will be retiring The Weeknd after concluding "Hurry Up Tomorrow" 's rollout, but I can still see him considering doing something like this further down the line. He actually slightly hinted at it during his Spotify Billions Club concert last December, talking about enjoying revisiting a smaller intimate venue and wanting an opportunity to do something special for the day-one fans. Who knows? :gaycat5:
