I bought Steam Deck because I needed hardware to play Talos Principle 2 and it runs like **** :rip: Also one button doesn't work anymore and I got so annoyed with reading about OLED to the point it made me hate having LCD. But this is the game I mostly wanted to play

ps5 should be all you need tbh

Just save yourself money and headache with a PS5, it has way more lifespan than any laptop.

and that's what I'm gonna do :gaycat4:

I've owned two gaming laptops in the past and they worked great for years.

BUT a year ago, I bought a $1,500 ROG laptop and now it's completely bricked due to a faulty motherboard.

This experience has soured me on gaming laptops and I've decided to stick exclusively to consoles for gaming.

Since most hardware components in gaming laptops are soldered, you can't easily replace faulty parts. So if you buy one, you'd better hope the hardware doesn't fail.

I loved Talos 2 but that game is not optimised in the slightest, I have a mid-range gaming PC and it can't hold a stable framerate for its life.

I agree with everyone else who said to NOT get a gaming laptop.

I'd say absolutely not. In my experience gaming laptops are large, heavy, clunky, loud and unreliable. You'd be much better off with the PS5, or Steam Deck if you'd be willing to give it another shot - i think it's a great little gadget and a fantastic alternative to a gaming laptop

I've had mine for a few years now, what I will say is: as soon as the warranty runs out you should open the gaming laptop up and check for thermal paste and blow out the dust out of all the fans immediately.

I barely used mine (only use it when I'm away from my gaming desktop at home and I have to do GPU intense stuff for uni/work) and the dust the fans are sucking in on a daily basis is insane. Laptops are already prone to overheating because of how compact the build is, but the dust exasperates the issue.

No, you use a laptop outside your house for gaming way less than you think you would. Your much better going with a desktop for gaming

I think this is the mayor thing. People don't use it outside as much as they think

The laptop will be a lot more expensive for the same specs as the deskop

PS5 or if you're short of money (and desperate) either get the Digital only version or a Xbox Series S. :suburban:

Had I got OLED instead of LCD I probably wouldn't have a problem. I read so much about the difference between the models it made me regret getting LCD and kinda forcing myself to use it. Especially since some time after buying it, the OLED model suddenly got a huge discount in my store - which also never happened again after that 🤡 I played some games and with the bigger ones I hated the battery and loudness of fans. Now that I'm selling SD I wouldn't get OLED simply because it's too expensive and I would be worried that I will have the same problem with R1 button that stopped working and Valve wanted to charged me 200 euroes to fix

Absolutely nothing, who even buys physical games nowadays other than people who collect them?

Yeah playing this on SD was too annoying for me and I wouldn't dare open it on my current laptop - the first game already made it heated like my body when I see Luigi's photos. I figured PS5 version would be the best

It depends on what games you play. The PS5 is a great console but there are a couple games you can only get on a PC. My gaming laptop has issues but I don't regret my purchase as I play MMOs a lot.

You'll lose access to your games at some point. Microsoft's digital only plans are awful. Digital only consoles are a scam. If you want to be able to access your games in several years, don't buy one. If you don't care and just want to play in the moment then digital only is fine
