Your taste is really unique here. :clap3: It's not all the time you see a lover of Hip-hop / Rap / R&B in YTT! :duca:

Redbone is really SWINGING. EIGHT WEEKS. :jonny:

I noticed these SZA songs, and was honestly just listening to Supermodel yesterday. It's such a great song and I always go crazy when the drums come in super late.

XO Tour Llif3 is great of course, but child where is Butterfly Effect?

NOTES

Spoiler

After eight weeks with no movement at the top, cdschart’s Hot 75 finally has a brand new No. 1. A new No. 1 debut to be more precise. And in it’s wake, it ends and sets some pretty historic feats.

That’s right, for the third time this year a song has opened at the top slot. This time around the honor goes to Kelela’s “LMK (Let Me Know)”, which obliterates its nearest competition with a nearly 3:1 point lead. It was only available for about half of the tracking week. Kelela, who has never charted on the singles list, joins Lorde’s “Green Light” and Lady Gaga’s “The Cure” as the only tracks to debut at No. 1 this year — they are also the only female singles to reach No. 1 in any capacity this year. The previously elusive No. 1 debut, which never occurred in 2015 or 2016 due to the altered release week, has unexpectedly returned thanks to off schedule releases. Next week, P!nk’s release of “What About Us” in the middle of the tracking week could case the first ever case of back to back No. 1 debuts; P!nk last led the chart exactly five years ago with “Blow Me (One Last Kiss”).

But back to this week, Kelela ends a historic run of male artists at the top: the 13 week gap between the No. 1 sittings of “The Cure” on May 4 and “LMK” on August 10 marks the longest female drought in chart history. Kelela also ends the eight week run of “Redbone”, one of four singles in chart history to notch eight or more consecutive weeks at No. 1.

Kelela also debuts at No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop genre chart, once again displacing “Redbone”.

Kesha’s “Praying” consequently settles into a fourth straight week at its peak of No. 2, missing out on this week’s top slot by just a few points. Although the track’s sudden stall in the position could easily signify that it’s beginning to peak, there’s always the most weeks at No. 2 record to look forward to: back in 2015-2016, Coldplay’s “Adventure of a Lifetime” strung together a record 15 non-consecutive weeks in the runner up slot. Could Kesha be a challenger? Check back in 2-3 months.

Once again, it’s not all bad news for Kesha: “Praying” leads the Pop songs survey for a fourth week and rises 37-29 with follow up track “Learn to Let Go” on the main chart.

After eight weeks at No. 1, Childish Gambino’s “Redbone” slides 1-3. Although it’s run at the top might be done, it did leave its mark on the chart: its two month command is the fourth longest in chart history, its the only single to re-enter the chart and later reach No. 1 and is the longest playing No. 1 single with a runtime of 5:27.

Lil Uzi Vert jumps 6-4 with “XO Tour Llif3”, reaching a new peak over three months into its run. Meanwhile, Ariel Pink’s “Time to Live” declines 3-5 while leading the Alternative songs chart for a fourth consecutive week.

Elsewhere in the top 10, Queens of the Stone Age push to a new peak with “The Way You Used to Do” (9-8) and Flume’s “Hyperreal” jumps 19-9 to become his highest peaking entry to date.

  • 4 weeks later...

After another month delay, my chart's about to come back (for the 80th time nnn :skull:). Anyway here's a very quick recap of what has happened since the August 10th chart...

August 17 - "Calicomplication"

Kelela.jpg 81TnWHafWdL._SL1448_.jpg

f36275f8821d8d3b2db55e0cf9231d13.1000x1000x1.jpgavatars-000277705859-59c6l5-t500x500.jpgpink-what-about-us-artwork.jpg?itok=by78WClI7c69d904ca17c48253e78cb0d1d3c465.1000x1000x1.jpg

Singles: Kelela's "LMK" remained at No. 1 in its second week, experiencing an uptick in chart points following its debut at the top. Kesha's "Praying" held at No. 2 for a fifth straight week, while former eight week No. 1 "Redbone" held at No. 3. P!nk notched her 7th top 10 single with "What About Us", which blasted in at No. 4. She became one of exactly a dozen artists to notch that many entries in the upper region. Queens of the Stone Age's "The Way You Used to Do" lifted 8-5 to a new peak.

Debuts: "What About Us" (No. 4), "Feet Don't Fail Me" (No. 13), "Feels Like Heaven" (No. 33), "The Evil Has Landed" (No. 50), "Let 'Em Talk" (No. 59) and "Swamp" (No. 69)

Albums: Red Hot Chili Peppers' Californication re-entered at a new peak of No. 1, marking the group's third chart topping effort (The Weeknd is the only artist with more No. 1s; 4).

August 24 - "Let Me Drop"

Kelela.jpg 71s62v7TE8L._SL1200_.jpg

f36275f8821d8d3b2db55e0cf9231d13.1000x1000x1.jpgavatars-000277705859-59c6l5-t500x500.jpg436cc583945c68050e37dcf18656f40e.1000x1000x1.jpg0wD9l6o.png

Singles: Kelela's "LMK" remained at No. 1 in its third week, consequently becoming the longest running No. 1 debut of the year. Kesha's "Praying" once again held at No. 2 for a sixth straight week, while former eight week No. 1 "Redbone" again took No. 3. Flume's "Hyperreal" advanced 9-4, becoming his first ever top 5 single. Capping the top 5, Queens of the Stone Age's "Feet Don't Fail Me" rose 13-5 to become the group's second consecutive top 5 hit.

Meanwhile, P!nk's "What About Us" -- the previous week's top debut -- plunged 4-45, setting a new record for the largest single week drop of all time. Congrats! Further, Rihanna's "Love On the Brain" became the 12th song to spend a full year on the chart. She joined Ellie Goulding as the second artist with two songs achieving this feat: "This Is What You Came For" notched a 60th and final week on the chart earlier this year.

Debuts: "I'm Yours" (No. 52), "Younger Now" (No. 61) and "War Is Coming (If You Want It)" (No. 75)

Albums: Queens of the Stone Age's Villains easily debuted at No. 1 with 133 points.

August 31 - "Hyper Villains"

Singles: Flume unexpectedly landed his first No. 1 with fast moving "Hyperreal" as it jumped 4-1, denying Kesha a chance at No. 1 once again. Yep, "Praying" stalled at No. 2 for a seventh straight week. Although I'm not positive, I believe this set a record for most time spent at a No. 2 peak by a female (Rihanna's "Work" spent a record eight weeks at No. 2 last year after reaching No. 1). Meanwhile, the overall record for most weeks at a No. 2 peak remained unbothered at 15 (Coldplay's "Adventure of a Lifetime"). Meanwhile, Kelela's former chart topper "LMK" eased 1-3 after three weeks at No. 1. Notably, "LMK" had "debuted at No. 1 out of nowhere" :spin: to block "Praying" on August 10th. Childish Gambino's "Redbone" slid 3-4 and Logic, Khalid and Alessia Cara's "1-800-273-8255" blasted 13-5. Consequently, Logic and Khalid scored their first top 10s while Alessia picked up her sixth.

Lorde also picked up a sixth top 10 as "Sober II (Melodrama)" shuffled 12-8 to continue the Kiwi singer's run in the top 10, which extended to 26 consecutive weeks.

Debuts: "Tell Me You Love Me" (No. 39), "Look What You Made Me Do" (No. 48) and "Skywalker" (No. 66).

Albums: Queens of the Stone Age's Villains kept at No. 1 for a second week.

September 7 - "Wish (Fl)u(me) Farewell"

Singles: After being blocked by three songs over a seven week period, Kesha's comeback track "Praying" completed its unorthodox rise to No. 1 on the singles chart, becoming her first chart topper to date. The previous week's leader (Flume's "Hyperreal") consequently slipped 1-2 as it relinquished control at the top. Queens of the Stone Age's "Feet Don't Fail Me" rebounded 6-3, netting a career high peak for the group in the process. Meanwhile, "LMK" dipped one slot further to No. 4 and "Redbone" continued its slow decline (4-5).

Debuts: "Whats Lovers Do" (No. 35) and "Rake It Up" (No. 70)

Albums: Queens of the Stone Age's Villains kept at No. 1 for a third week.

September 14 - "Another Fail"

0wD9l6o.png To-Pimp-A-Butterfly-Kendrick-Lamar.jpg

f36275f8821d8d3b2db55e0cf9231d13.1000x1000x1.jpge4c1cf82b61f65b8bf9fc709ee0e8080.1000x1000x1.jpgKelela.jpg436cc583945c68050e37dcf18656f40e.1000x1000x1.jpg

Singles: On the most recent chart, Queens of the Stone Age's "Feet Don't Fail Me" kicks "Praying" to the curb as it jumped 3-1. Kesha promptly regresses back to No. 2, where she spends an eighth non-consecutive week. Meanwhile, Ariel Pink's shoots back into the upper region with "Another Weekend" taking No. 3 and tying "Time to Live" as his highest peaking hit to date. Both are from the forthcoming set Dedicated to Bobby Jameson. Kelela's "LMK" holds at No. 4 as Flume rounds out the top 5 with "Hyperreal" (2-5).

Meanwhile Kelly Clarkson nets her highest peaking effort in nearly five years with "Love So Soft", which enters at No. 16 with just two days of points. That easily outdoes the peak of the rather lackluster "Heartbeat Song" which was so insignificant on this chart that I have no idea where it peaked and don't care to look it up; for the time being I'll guess it hit No. 24.

U2 surprisingly follows with "You're the Best Thing About Me", the next highest debut at No. 19 and Sam Smith's somewhat interesting/somewhat drab "Too Good at Goodbyes" whimpers in at No. 55 as the final new entry.

Debuts: "Love So Soft" (No. 16), "You're the Best Thing About Me" (No. 19) and "Too Good at Goodbyes" (No. 55).

Albums: Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly re-entered at a new peak of No. 1, becoming the second album to do so and garnering Kendrick a third No. 1 album. However, it had the lowest weekly activity of any No. 1 album in three months, when Kendrick's own DAMN. returned to the pole position.

***September 21 - BUILDING CHART (3 Days Left)***

U2-youre-the-best-thing-about-me-art-2017-billboard-1240.jpg b0ea0d0107d6f8fd1c7d320e99f47897.1000x1000x1.png

BY145Rq.png0wD9l6o.pngf36275f8821d8d3b2db55e0cf9231d13.1000x1000x1.jpgKelela.jpg

Singles: On this week's building chart, U2's "You're the Best Thing About Me" is up 19-1, leading nearly all other competitors by a huge margin. However, Kelly Clarkson's "Love So Soft", which took the early lead on Sunday, remains hot behind the latest single from the Irish rockers as its up 16-2. Should these two tracks hold by week's end, they will mark huge career milestones for both acts: "You're the Best Thing About Me" would mark U2's first ever No. 1 (and their first entry) while "Love So Soft" would become Kelly Clarkson's highest peaking track in over a half decade in front of "People Like Us" (No. 3 in 2013) and only behind "Stronger" (No. 1 in 2012).

Perhaps even more incredible, if either track ends up finishing in the No. 1 spot, the chart's leader will have changed a record tying four weeks in a row (five unique leaders). This was previously achieved once before in 2015: "Can't Feel My Face" was succeeded by "Hotline Bling" on October 15, which was then succeeded by "The Hills" on October 22, which was then succeeded by "Something In the Way You Move" on October 29, which was finally succeeded by "Hello" on November 5. And with NAO releasing a new single this week, this record could further be re-written next week.

Anyway, back to this week. Last week's No. 1 (Queens of the Stone Age's "Feet Don't Fail Me") slides down to No. 3 as Kesha's "Praying" is knocked out of the top 2 for the first time in over two months (2-4). Kelela's "LMK" currently claims No. 5 (down 1 from last week).

Debuts: TBA ("Nostalgia" by NAO is a shoo in for top 20 upon release).

Albums: Adele is surprisingly aiming for her first No. 1 album with 2121 has previously visited the lower regions of the album chart's top 10 and has remained a strong catalog entry: it has continuously ranked within the chart's cumulative top 100 since its inception in January 2016.
