JO1s Posted November 12 Posted November 12 She conveniently attractive and makes easily digestible music. 1
itshyolee Posted November 12 Posted November 12 No lies were told but I'm sure Swifties are gonna flood this thread with their ignorance 3
VelvetCrush Posted November 12 Posted November 12 (edited) I mean that's true. I think Taylor worked hard to her success, but she had oportunities many will never have. People get mad when priviledge is pointed out because they think we're saying they didn't work hard, don't deserve it or aren't talented (although that is true in some cases) but being privileged is not necessarily about how hard you work, but the oportunities that you had. If she was lazy and/or untalented she probably wouldn't have gotten as far as she did, but by being a rich white american she already had many doors opened to her that others don't have access to. Badgalbriel Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Did you need a Harvard professor to tell you that? Of course, she's successful partially because she's white, being white doesn't guarantee that you will be successful, though. 3
Hunter_13 Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Sounds like a stan twitter twink that blames Taylor for everything causes she's white. While stanning Billie Eilish and Charli XCX 2 1

WildHeart Posted November 12 Posted November 12 (edited) 25 minutes ago, SupremeGoddess said: Taylor isn't really that great of a songwriter when you compare her to actual songwriters like Joni Mitchell or Carole King or Patti Smith, even more pop oriented artists like Madonna have written much better material Taylor could never write a The Magdalene Laundries or a Mer Girl to save her life What she does do well enough is craft a narrative storytelling-like effect in her lyrics but it's usually all very basic and above the surface. She's just lucky most people (a majority of her stans included) aren't very cultured or clever so they all think her music is some sort of holy ground (reference intended) Calling songwriting in albums like Folklore, Red, Evermore etc. basic is a crazy take but it's coming from an hive makes it even crazier... Feanor Posted November 12 Posted November 12 (edited) That's true with every other white, blonde pop girl (Adele, Ariana Grande, Ava Max, Barbra Streisand, Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Miley Cyrus, P!nk, Sabrina Carpenter. Also Billie Eilish, Céline Dion, Dua Lipa, Katy Perry at times…). White privilege has helped every white artist in the business. But while it opens doors, it can't guarantee continuous & sustained success or relevancy for multiple decades. For that the music has to stick, and no amount of blonde hair can help with that if the public isn't here for it. Edited November 12 by Feanor 6
trainsskyscrapers Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Yup. In terms of natural talent... she's the Maria Sharapova of the music industry: White, tall, victim complex, the "eternal underdog", and marketable. Similar to Sharapova's doping... we won't talk about what tricks and tactics Taylor Swift uses to get ahead in the music field. That's for another time. 1 2 1 2

piotrert Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Thanks for this revelation. Now we know why Gaga is a flop, because she is short. 2
Trent W Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Is that and the fact that her music and marketing are extremely safe She's extremely aware of her privileges and has maximized this to an extreme level No other artist would find that level of success even releasing those same 11 albums Her success os because a lot of her fans live through her 6
Trent W Posted November 12 Posted November 12 She also victimizes herself as much as she can to hide her privileges That's all she can do to hide them and she is 100% aware of it 3 1
