OrgVisual Posted September 21 Posted September 21 I've been a night owl all my life, but these past 6 months or so it has been really bad; that I would go to sleep around 2AM every day (or even later on the weekends) - and it's by choice not because of work or anything. I want to improve this as it's affecting my life and work a bit (waking up tired every day...) I just found myself scrolling mindlessly through TikTok, IG, ATRL etc. when I was in bed and it's like my brain refused to go to sleep. And it's difficult to break out of that habit! Anyone in the same situation and got a solution?
hallucinate Posted September 21 Posted September 21 melatonin pills had a similar issue and it's what helped me 2
pavi Posted September 21 Posted September 21 (edited) I have timers on all my apps and I just can't access them after a certain time. It of course takes self control to not turn it off, but it still really helps me Edited September 21 by pavi 1
Digitalism Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Turn off all the lights by 9pm, Stop using your screens earlier, do not eat too late and meditation before sleeping. 1 1
glitch Posted September 21 Posted September 21 You need to start going to bed earlier gradually. If you just turned around tomorrow and tried to go to sleep at 11pm, you wouldn't feel tired enough. Go to bed like 15 minutes before your usual time and stick with that for a few days, then add another 15 minutes etc. When you get into the habit, you'll start feeling tired earlier in the night and want to go to bed earlier. Turn your phone off about an hour before you want to go to bed too. Mine goes into night mode at 11pm and everything goes greyscale which is a good reminder for me to put my phone down and get ready for bed. 2
Devin Posted September 21 Posted September 21 unhealthy way: drink alcohol healthy way: cut sugar & electronics, warm shower, practice sleeping earlier 1

That sounds like a good plan actually I have to admit all solutions sound good and i tried some before but it takes a lot of commitments to sustain such lifestyle. It's like an addiction (of sleeping late) actually 1

Rihinvention Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Exercise, hard, first thing in the morning, and get some sunlight after it (or during, if you don't want to work out in a gym)
makeme Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Turn off your phone an our before bed. Jerk off and drink a chamomile tea
livelikemusic Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Got to set times for yourself. Like, "OK at 11pm I am logging off of everything, and beginning my nighttime routine," and you need to stick to that routine. And if you want it to be earlier, gradually move that 11pm time (once you've got to down) to, about 10:45pm, etc.

My work starts at 9am means i should wake up at 8am. If I sleep at 2, i only got around 6 hours of sleep every day. And depends on the day, sometimes it can be tiring as obv 6 hours ain't enough for me

It's my brain keeps telling my body that "it's still too early to sleep, let's watch another netflix episode, or scroll some more tiktoks or read some kiikiis on ATRL"
