the structure is so disjointed and unique

i'd simply say its unrefined because the song has absolutely no business being that long and ultimately goes no where. the song becomes painfully repetitive and kills its own pace. it drags to the point where i actually have to skip before it finishes and its a shame because the song would have been pretty good with some editing.

i feel like the structure of this song flows though. it's complex and layered with so many different hooks that compliment each other. funnily these are actually the "sEcTioNs" perrie was referring to as her "artistic choice" (:deadbanana2:) unfortunately perrie's idea of a section is a third verse that is identical to the previous 2 and a bloated repetitive outro that adds absolutely nothing.

i have no issue with 4 minute songs but this should not be one of them!

Wow…another miss.

I came in here expecting to be alone in my disappointment, but the fact that everyone else is underwhelmed only validates my thoughts.

Her whiteness is really showing. Everything she's put out has just been so…Caucasian.

I think sadly people are just jumping on disliking her music and being verbal against Perrie because she's underperforming and it's trendy and she had the biggest profile. Mixers had turned on Perrie during confetti era and she's been the most disliked / least supported ever since.

Double post - error.

Buy the songs on iTunes.

Hmm. The whole structure of the song is disjointed, inconsistent and abrupt. It all sort of feels random.

That being said, I do find the "chorus" catchy and I have found myself singing it already. However, this doesn't give me any hopes of it being the hit that Perrie so clearly needs to release her album. I suspect an upcoming post about being back in the studio, with some disingenuous excuse attached to it.

My favourite version is the extended. Have you heard it? It's six minutes so I think it might be a nightmare for you :deadbanana2:

This is better than Tears, but still not good.
Love Forget About Us, but I overall expected much more from her.

So it turns out this is more or less a cover of a song Joy Anonymous released in 2020? (Now removed from streaming)

Mmmm…no, I think the music is just bad lol. I still love her. Always have, always will.

Her vocal talent is on Celine Dion's level. But the 3 songs she's released haven't been great. That's ok though. It's not like 3 songs is a lot.

So we went from a Selena Gomez reject as the 2nd single to a cover as the 3rd single... what the **** is going on with Perrie's career? :gaycat6:

Here's the original btw if anyone wants to listen: JOY (Get Over Me) - JOY (Anonymous) | JOY (Get Over Me) - JOY (Anonymous) | By Hitsss Zone | Facebook

I am also not really sold on it yet unfortunately. For me it is also a bit too long, the song feels stretched out. The chorus is feels like a pre chorus.

i have to say though that I have the Chorus in my ear all morning already :giraffe:

To be fair to her. She recorded tears before Selena did. But still… the entire album campaign has been her talking about writing in interviews. Yet all singles haven't been written by her

she did scam a credit on this song tho and is low key talking as if she wrote it in interviews

Oh ok, I assumed that she recorded it after Selena passed on the song.

But yeah, her talking about song writing gets increasingly weird when she's been releasing songs like this

I love Perrie, but I am confused at this being a single.

There's another Ed Sheeran penned song on the album (not going to spoil the name of it) that we heard at the listening party that was much more in the vein of Forget About Us and would have had more success at radio.

Imagine that'll be the focus track / single on album release though.

It's a cute bop but yeah these singles have been kinda mid so my expectations for the album are low

I think the fact that this version is better than Perries says everything about her solo career so far.

I am hoping the video will elevate it a little more. I still think it's a decent effort but a little uninspired. It's a solid 6/10 and an improvement on Tears at least. Looking forward to hearing her live version on Graham Norton, too. She always sells her songs with live vocals.
