I don't think I've ever seen an album rollout where every single creative decision is leading to controversy. It's almost as if Katy is speedrunning through a checklist of every possible source of bad press.

 

HOW TO CREATE THE ULTIMATE FLOP ERA:

 

- Accusations of using AI for visuals + music ✅

- Panned song snippet for comeback single ✅

- Return to disgraced producer as a blatant attempt to recapture former glory, with full awareness of the optics given his victim was a former friend of yours ✅

- Write a female empowerment anthem with said disgraced producer, with full awareness of the hypocrisy ✅

- Make the music video for said female empowerment anthem a tacky oversexualized 'parody' clearly meant to titillate male viewers ✅

- Include weird TERF-y undertones on said music video ✅

- For the second single, deal with a public investigation for alleged environmental damage for the filming of the music video ✅

They should've scrapped everything and just taken the hit instead of continuing to ruin her reputation... and then used the remaining budget (whatever they spent on the Lifetimes video and single launch, promoting the album release etc) to rush into the studio and record an EP of singles with different producers and writers
