Now come on, you can be nice or grateful to people that support you and made you who you are. Taking a selfie or smiling at them is all they want and it's not creepy behavior. Touching or following her around I can understand.

In a meet and greeting or somewhere were the artist knows what's gonna happen yes

But if you are walking in the street and you are approached all the time for that **** is definitely triggering

You can start feeling trapped and get anxiety

This girl is bipolar

She's right about everything and that sorta reminds me what Björk said about her relationship with fame even back in the 90s

The only part that saddens me a bit is her thinking she will still manage to quietly go the movies with her friends, she hasn't still grasped the weight of her fame yet poor baby

I understand what she's saying and I agree with a lot of it. What I don't agree with is how she is making this about 'women' when it's really about her. She deserves respect and to be treated like a human. I just wish she would have worded it better. Her execution makes it hard to digest and it's coming across as complaining.

Much better worded than her previous "statement" and I understand more what she is saying

I wish her luck in this industry

Why is it so hard for some of y'all here and on stan twitter to get that just because "well this is how it's always been in Hollywood" makes it right?

The backlash was actually insane to me because she said absolutely nothing wrong.

Some fans act like celebrities aren't human beings and they can do or say whatever they want when they meet them and that **** ain't right.

She should be able to live her life without worrying about stalkers trying to meet her family and friends.

She needs to work on her delivery.

She, just like doja, and jennifer lawrence come off "too real". It comes off as weird and doing too much realism/groundedness to the point that it sounds arrogant

already so exhausting and im a stan. if you have a hard line when it comes to fans and interactions then you cant just be posting but take and active participation in setting these boundaries. you have to be realistic though that you can't change the whole entertainment industry to cater for you. at some point you have to wake up to real life and make a choice if its your absolute boundary and accept that it's gonna happen and you can choose to either be a successfull mainstream popstar or a private individual cause there is not gonna be an in between this decade

Perfectly written. She stood firm on her request while expressing love for her respectful fans and also acknowledged the reasonable critiques. Hoping she'll spearhead a cultural shift around how we treat and commodify famous girls and women.

Damn she doubled down and did so flawlessly, she is so based. She devoured :clap3:

She really said I'm not your bish don't hang your shizz on me

She spilled! The parasocial freaks stalking and grabbing celebs for pics in public need to touch grass.

Kayleigh, people are dying. Why don't you rant about something useful with your 15 minutes.

Yeah, she is definitely going down the Taylor route with this. She didn't need to make this about women.

Male celebrities like Justin Bieber and BTS go through this too.

No tea but if people like Emily Blunt can manage their way into a packed imax screening of Oppenheimer on its release week Chappell could easily go to a movie with her friends :ahh:

"when i'm in drag"

She's a drag king?

Drag queens are not limited to male, it's about the gender expression

i think its totally fine for her to express her discomfort.

but famous people cannot stop being famous. there will always be wackos out there and a lot of being famous is accepting that you have to close yourself off. the fact that she says she still wants to go to the movies and be normal tells me she has not weighed the idea of fame outside of her own indie bubble. and it also tells me she is not cut out for it.

that can be true while also agreeing that its totally valid that she hates it. if lindsay can release Rumors and britney can release piece of me, then chappell can absolutely speak her mind on what its like to be famous.

actor fame is different from musician fame. comparing someone who is packing out stadiums IRL vs someone who can make a movie and go home are two very different sources of fame. you RARELY if ever are going to see an actor in person but you see a musician in person whenever you go to their shows. that harbors parasocial relationships.

beyonce goes to target but has to go with 4 bodyguards who dont let people get near her or take pictures. she can't simply go to the movies either.

after selena and christina grimmie musicians dont play with that

I agree that this is much better than her video. I don't know how to feel about the sexual harassment comparison tho, it feels a bit much.

Honestly, I just don't think her expectations are realistic. She cannot be a mainstream artist and live life like she did before fame. Maybe it's best for her to go back to niche fan base.
