hugoflegend Posted August 24 Posted August 24 She isn't wrong but making a public announcement about it via video is a bad move. Plenty of celebs turn down pictures or autographs, but they don't feel the need to blast it in a video afterwards.

holyground13 Posted August 24 Posted August 24 that is very well written and she's right and she should say it! 10 1
Mtjjproducer Posted August 24 Posted August 24 I'm not a fan of hers like a song or two so I can be unbiased but she is absolutely right. I think the fact people feel they allowed to invade someone's privacy because they like their art is creepy. Any other profession besides a celebrity this would be stalking. I felt the same when Doja (who could've phrased it better but wasn't wrong) said the same about fans leaking her hotel destination in Brazil and expecting her to come outside to meet them when they stalked her to find where she was at 9 4
Dear Reader Posted August 24 Posted August 24 I loved her response. People were acting so weird and entitled over her expressing her boundaries. It's really not that difficult to understand that she has the right to her own privacy even if she chooses to be famous. This is why most celebrities stopped engaging with fandoms and posting on Twitter all the time. 6 1
Popboi. Posted August 24 Posted August 24 The part she compares a fan wanting a selfie to sexual harassment is not it The rest, she's absolutely right, although completely impossible at her current level of fame, there'll always be a person getting carried away or not in the know of her preference to not be interacted by unknown people 13 3 10
Gaia Posted August 24 Posted August 24 To be fair, this is MUCH better worded than her tiktok rambling. 2
halcyonday Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Well at least she should have the money to hire good security to deal with following or touching her now that she's at the top. 1

If she presented it like this, people would have resonated. But she came off very standoffish and unappreciative. Here she acknowledges she loves her fans -- she just wants to appreciate them when she's in "work mode" and not 24/7 which is valid. Her first message came off as "Yeah I'm famous but don't talk to me if you see me or ask for a picture ever or approach me. It's weird and creepy behavior" which, without context, just seems very rude to fans. This is a much better statement than her tiktok videos. 15 1
Bad_vocal_technique Posted August 24 Posted August 24 That was very commendable. I respect her decision.
Sheep Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Anybody criticizing her now that she's clarified it's really just stalkers and strangers touching her is a foaming at the mouth hater. 2 1
Trent W Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Excellent drag those insufferable stans There needs to be drawn a very hard line here, artists don't owe fans **** If you like their art buy it and stream it and there is were it stops I hope artists become more reclusive and just express through their music We don't need to know **** about their personal lives 4 1
Minto Posted August 24 Posted August 24 i really sympathise with her but deranged fans are another breed her and other celebs will never escape the behaviours associated with them until we start putting them down 1

I don't think she was rude or came off ungrateful. She probably was in a space of anger and responses to that can sound unreasonable. However, people complain all the time that these celebrities are all PR trained and she was just being real. At least, that's how I see it. 7

Being touched without asking could trigger someone Is not sexual harassment, but a lot of people don't like to be touched by strangers 1
