Oh this girl is not making it far. They compare her to Gaga but early Gaga loved the fame, she embraced it it made her more powerful. If you're crying on tik tok cause someone recognized you on the street and asked for a picture then this is not the career field for you.

If she wants to work in the music business without being recognized she should just become a songwriter and do songs for other artists, she gets to do what she likes, the gravy train continues and she'll have much more privacy.

Setting boundaries is NECESSARY but she's being unreasonable, because comparing stalkers to fans who want a hug or a pic is insane, and she's been ungrateful on interviews before as well... Also the way she yelled at the tech guy when her outfit got stuck in a fan while performing doesn't make me think highly of her as a person...

Don't you just hate it when you sign with a major label and work with a top-five producer and open for an MPG and become famous!!! 😤

Not everyone needs to be gaga or lana

I love her honesty on this and my further advice she shouldn't feel sorry for the gays being miserable on internet/irl for hours  i.e. Atrl :gaycat4:

It's the price of fame. You either quit or find yourself a trustworthy support system.

Some of ya'll really need to self-reflect on your lack of empathy

Oh please. I'll save my empathy for someone actually deserving of it

She couldn't have chosen a worse career path for herself.

She's right and she should say it. :clap3: Artists are human beings, not plastic dolls.

What she's saying is that harassment and constant fear of physical safety shouldn't be the price of being an artist. "Welp too bad that's how our society is!" Yeah well society needs to change and be better.

And look at how detrimental that was for Gaga's mental health..Chappell speaking out about this now and setting a boundary with her fan base is the smartest thing she could do. Gaga never did that and it was impossible for her to separate the fame from reality and it severely f*cked her up!

I'm glad we have a pop girl finally calling out stan's for being complete weirdos and not letting them get away with their childish antics, she's a human!

I honestly think this is just Gen Z being authentic and comfortable setting boundaries. Good on her, I say. It's refreshing. She's just protecting her peace.

When I'm in a bad mood, and all I'm trying to do is walk to my car, I don't want to talk to anyone. We're all human. Sometimes you just want to listen to music and be alone with your thoughts.

I can't imagine how difficult it would be to constantly be "on" all the time. To be hyper-vigilant about potential PR crises when you're not even doing anything work related. You could be doing something as mundane as — like I said — walking to your car.

Also, if anyone needs to be told to **** off, it's the stans who actively stalk artists. Spending hours outside someone's hotel room, and then screaming/shoving a camera in their face for the 15 seconds it takes them to walk from the hotel to their car, is unhinged.

It's jobless behaviour and it's about time someone told them to **** off.

Gaga's mental health was in the worst place ever by the time Artpop happened. Not sure if she should be used as an example

first video makes no sense - she IS a celebrity whether she likes it or not and there are well established downsides to that, like having difficulty navigating public spaces! there are also obvious benefits, but she doesn't seem to register those as being in any way related.

she did do smth w the second video tho. just because extreme fan/stan culture has been (somewhat) normalised doesn't make it right and artists should not have to put up with it and longer :bam:

I also think it's important to note that lots of - predominantly male - celebrities get praised for always taking photos when fans ask but tbh it's always been pretty obvious to me why female celebrities would be more hesitant. Simply put, they would want to be 'photo ready,' with at least some makeup and hair look going, not to mention the fashion and the possibility of a dud shot. So they'd have to review the photos and maybe say no or let's do more and it's all so complicated it's easier to just turn down the photo in the first place. Or do what charli's done and adopt crazy big sunglasses and a bratty personality :cm:

She made points, but I hope her management directs her towards PR/media training, so that she can maintain goodwill with her fans.

Gaga overworked herself and destroyed her body. She damaged her hip and her fibro got worse and worse to the state of today
Her love for fame and ambitiousness and love for her fans and fear of dissapointing them and havin bad managers interested only in the money was really bad for her.
In a world where Gaga took a rest after her debut her career would be in a total diferent shape today. She would be massive and the current successor of Madonna

Her fans also crossed boundaries and she was clearly exhausted of them in the Artpop era.  Yaaaaaaas Gaga yassssssssss
The fans she nurtured ended destroying her and treating her like a clown
She was lucky she had the sound of music, joanne, cheek to cheek, asib to regain her respect back cause gaga was 100% goin down in 2014

We have seen with Chromatica how depressed and miserable was Gaga
Katy was always a level far apart from her fans-puttin some boundaries and it was healthier and she looked far happier than Gaga even if she's a flop today
Taylor is successful today. The most succesful in the planet. But i wonder if its worthy........Her relationship with the fans is so unhealthy and scary

Gaga is the example of how you shouldnt approach fame or your work. NO is important:giraffe:
The best way to approach is someone like Shakira in the 2000s.
4-3 year breaks for each album. Good relationship with fans but also distant. Movin away from the spotlight to Bahamas and livin her life

Im glad Chappel is puttin some boundaries but i dont think it will work sadly :emofish:
people are crazy dude.

Gaga learned to SAY NO!!! and it saved her
