Bends Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Quote "Inside her camp there is likely "probably a lot of hurt", said an independent publicist for significant major-label pop clients, speaking anonymously. Quote "To counter the backlash, they said, "I would zoom right out and think about the legacy of Katy and all the amazing things she stands for and has achieved in her career to date – and own [the response], really make something of it. You can really do that in this era – and find your superfans." Quote As for Luke, they said, "it would have helped if the song was a banger because pop fans can be forgiving. Maybe [her team] thought Katy was bigger than the controversy." Quote "But the MTV Video Vanguard award – recognising her rarely matched career highs – might suggest a path forward. "I think she can salvage the era by attempting to pivot to a greatest hits tour." Source 1 1
KFC Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Maybe 2 eras ago but I don't imagine there are many people who want to see Katy live in 2024, even for nostalgic reasons 6 1 3

SinnerCity Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Not everyone can have their 'eras tour' moment, and certainly not Katy Perry 7 3 2 1
Popular Post shoganai Posted August 18 Popular Post Posted August 18 Scrapping the project before its release (like Rihanna did before Anti) and pretending singles were just stand-alone projects is the only way to get out of this mess 12 3
KillingYourCareer Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Katy is uninspired, she has nothing to offer currently. I agree that she should just cling on to her long list of classics. 10 1 2

P!NK2LOVE Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Why do we care so much again. Like.. it's getting weird. Ok. She's a flop. What now 2
SharGaga Posted August 18 Posted August 18 The sad part is what is she even going to say in her VMA acceptance speech that's going to be positive? Her legacy is being erased as we speak.
Princess Aurora Posted August 18 Posted August 18 (edited) My face reading the OP's post. Poor Stacy, I mean Katy Edited August 18 by Princess Aurora 2
allforyou Posted August 18 Posted August 18 I don't think it would make much difference to market the tour as a greatest hits one, if I were her I would just continue the era's rollout
Mordecai Posted August 18 Posted August 18 She needs to clean up her public perception before going on tour otherwise she's just gonna get the same reception. We're past the days of people willing to pay extortionate prices for concert tickets (aside from a select few), she really should get back in the studio and try and come up with something different. But she never makes career decisions in her own interests so we'll get a tour and KP7 in 2028 1
magazine Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Or maybe, I don't know, get a 9-5 job like everyone else that can't be a famous singer? 2
Digitalism Posted August 18 Posted August 18 That should have been done even if 143 was a success. People wanted her old hits either way 1
Vroom Vroom Posted August 18 Posted August 18 This gives me flash backs to when JLO changed her album tour into a greatest hits tour … and then canceled it 3 1 3
Badgalbriel Posted August 18 Posted August 18 She should go for it, it's her only shot at relevance. 1

Dante Silva Posted August 18 Posted August 18 I don't think it's over for her. I think it's over for Dr. Luke. There are other strong songwriters/ producers out there (who are not problematic like he is). Bizarrely she never found them for her last two album eras.
Khal Posted August 18 Posted August 18 (edited) A tour isn't going to salvage the era because a tour isn't going to 'un-flop' her singles and the album. The only thing a tour would prove is that she's still marketable as a legacy act, and that's if tickets actually sell Edited August 18 by Khal 1 2

She can easily just do a tour and perform her hits on it as well as tracks from the new LP, just like every artist does
