Will this year be Diane Warren's sweet 16 for Oscar nominations?

The legendary songwriter and 15-time Oscar nominee is aiming for her 16th Academy Awards invitation this year with the track "The Journey" from Tyler Perry's upcoming war drama, "The Six Triple Eight," starring Kerry Washington.

Netflix is set to release "The Six Triple Eight," which tells the inspiring true story of the first and only all-Black Women's Army Corps unit stationed overseas during World War II. The 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion contributed to the war by sorting through a three-year backlog of undelivered mail and delivering it to American soldiers far from home. In the face of discrimination and a vast, unfamiliar country divided by global conflict, these 855 women brought hope to the front lines.

Written by Warren and performed by global singing sensation H.E.R., "The Journey" is a tribute to those who face seemingly insurmountable barriers yet persevere and ultimately triumph — much like the extraordinary women of the 6888th Battalion, whose compelling story inspired the song.

that 13 year gap because they had a filtering process where songs had to get a certain average score out of 10 to get in, then it was embarrassing b/c they had as few as 2 nominees so they changed it to a regular popularity contest like the other categories...

Think they need to bring that back. I'm tired of seeing her ass nominated for every little song she throws out :suburban:

she deserves, hope it breaks her streak of noms and actually wins

The Susan Lucci of the Oscars. I hope she wins finally

She needs to sit down for a couple years and just focus on one great song that can match the heights of her 90s work and she will have it in the bag. As long as she keeps rihleasing TRASH, it will be a NO from The Academy. :bam:

She's racist so it would be devastating if she won riding on the coattails of black talent (I assume she's talented, haven't heard a song of hers).

If popularity is the factor, how did those later songs even get nominated? They are unknown songs from unknown films.

She is tired of losing it and pulled out the most powerful card you can use :dies:

I would rather kill myself than having to write these boring ass ballads every year. Just give her that dumb trophy and let her rest. :rip:

The Oscar nominations for Best Original Song are decided by just the music branch of the Academy, which is pretty small. Dianne has been in this industry for like 40 years now, so I imagine she has plenty of friends who nominate her. With how small that branch is, you probably only need a few dozen votes.

if anyone could do it, it would be H.E.R.

Isn't she Oscar poison?

yeah, "popularity" can be pure name checks.

plenty of movies don't bother with theme songs so often the winner doesn't even get into the hot 100 at all, like in the last 5 years love me again, fight for you, and naautu naatu.
