Katy Perry to receive Video Vanguard Award, perform hits medley on MTV VMAs

In my mind she's performing Woman's World with the entire audience giving her the death stare LMAO. These type of awards are just a promotional tactic but it couldn't come at a worse time in Katy's career. It's going to feel very uneventful because of this reason. There's really nothing to celebrate except nostalgia.:giraffe:

At this point this award is for artists trying to revive their careers

I wonder if they pay for it 🤔

Anyways i dont think it will help her with her new material but maybe it will help her a bit with her tour announcement

It was richly deserved already from the moment the E.T. video came out :clap3:

There's so many hits that could be performed, her catalog is so powerful. I have zero doubt that the performance will be a great show. Anyway I wish so bad there'll be an acoustic part in which she could showcase the best vocals.

This is her last chance to save her legacy :gaycat:

Nah. This is her chance to transition into a legacy act. Its time.

She has a catalog and the gp has moved forward. Embrace the new chapter.

I really don't think she should sing "as you shoot across the sky-y-y" on 9/11 :skull:

The 'hilarious' thing about this is that she did sell her catalogue last year, so she wont profit from any more sales of said catalogue lol

She will have to go on tour or back to Vegas to get any real money from now on

She will for sure ruin it by wearing a clown outfit while a turd dances in the background

Truly amazing :clap3: We don't have that many popstars with such multifaceted visuals tbh.

It's such a difficult task since she has so many hits, it's gonna be another Super Bowl situation where she'd have to leave a lot of her hits behind. The fact that she could still do another super bowl set with a totally new setlist of her remaining #1s :rip:

anyway for the vanguard, she has the task of choosing whether her biggest hits and filtering them down, or choose songs based on the best visuals attached to them. This is my ideal set list:

Intro- Hardknocklife transitioning into Roar

-ET/Dark Horse

-I Kissed A Girl/Waking Up In Vegas

-Hot N Cold/Last Friday Night

-Cali Gurls/Teenage Dream/POM

-then slowly fade the instrumentals of POM to the point where only the guitar remains and transition into an acoustic version of TOTGA

-TOTGA/Thinking of You mashup

-then move into an acoustic piano Wide Awake, but after the first chorus, bring the original production back

-NRO/CTTR/Firework

-Walking on Air transitioning into Lifetimes———THE END

But I know the time is limited so lot of these will be slashed :bird:

ps. love Unconditionally and Harleys but they don't always translate that well live

She's the most horrific, loser popstar alive. But she deserves this award c'mon now

Posted

She lowkey needs to perform Harleys final chorus.

She deserves it and thats a fact. New music may be flopping but her videography is top tier. All she has to do is to put on a BIG show...

Didn't she just sell her masters (aka rights to the music)? She should still profit from being a writer and performer (just not the mechanics rights)

It's so crazy because it's true. Idk how she went from reigning with California Girls to this.

I like your idea but I doubt she'll get that many songs.

Yeah I feel like she has to tell a story about key moments so even my favorite singles like TD and WA might not capture it the best but as long as she is not using obvious poor choices like This is how we do (a bop), Part of me and some other songs that don't capture her essence and peak correctly then I'm good either way.

I think she needs to bow out gracefully and remind people why she dominated the 2010s and then begin her legacy heritage era. She's still beloved but not for her new music.

no one wants to hear new music from Mariah or Celine or Alicia Keys either. She should just give us one final reminder why she was so dynamic in her prime.

I was about to say...that's not how it works. They get coins still it's just not as much if they owned their masters and licensed their catalog.

Will this be the audience reaction to Woman's World and Lifetimes?
