Saint James Posted August 14 Posted August 14 i've seen her miss that note more times than hit it i think she may be in denial about her vocal range

Jamie£er Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Every video i've seen of her performing this song is always strained and harsh… girl lie down or pull a Celine and have a pre-record because my lord
BrokenMachine Posted August 14 Posted August 14 This is Idina core. She has been her whole career straining and squeezing out those high notes 1

Poxy Posted August 14 Posted August 14 I thought I saw the whole clip but it keeps going and going and going 1
Capris Groove Posted August 14 Posted August 14 She has one of the worst techniques of any famous singer, she barely made it through her initial Wicked run on Broadway. By the end her "Defying Gravity" was awful. She's a great Broadway actress. But not singer. 1
Bad_vocal_technique Posted August 14 Posted August 14 (edited) it can happen to any live singer but there is no need to keep trying Edited August 14 by Bad_vocal_technique 1

Even during the workshop days of the show she was struggling with some of the songs. By the end of her run on Wicked (I can't remember if it was after her Broadway run or West End run.) she needed to get vocal surgery because she blew out her vocal chords. (Which is a reoccurring issue with how vocally demanding the role of Elphaba is, but that's a whole different story.) OT: I still remember when she went viral for butchering the song on New Year's Eve. 1
Dark Phoenix Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Why is she still singing that song??? And why does she looks and feels like the older sister of Lea Michele

She should try a longer "a" like the one in car or an "oh" sound so it doesn't sound as harsh. 8 hours ago, Jamie£er said: Every video i've seen of her performing this song is always strained and harsh… girl lie down or pull a Celine and have a pre-record because my lord 7 hours ago, BrokenMachine said: This is Idina core. Chick got TERRIBLE intonation and her shrill ass voice is like nails on a chalkboard. I wonder if "deadly assault on the ears" is something Taye Diggs put down as one of his irreconcilable differences in their divorce 6
