Achilles. Posted Wednesday at 06:11 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:11 AM It should be Taylor but will probably be Yoncé. 1
Blade Runner Posted Wednesday at 06:19 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:19 AM Clearly Taylor. Bigger sales, bigger tours, bigger impact, etc etc. 3
Blade Runner Posted Wednesday at 06:21 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:21 AM If Billboard was smart they would have a cover with the top 10 all together. But... 1
sasashite Posted Wednesday at 06:38 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:38 AM According to Billboard's own Greatest Pop Stars of each year: Taylor: Honorable Mention in 2008 Honorable Mention in 2009 Honorable Mention in 2012 Greatest Pop Star of 2015 Honorable Mention in 2017 Honorable Mention in 2020 Greatest Pop Star of 2021 #3 Pop Star of 2022 Greatest Pop Star of 2023 Beyoncé: Honorable Mention in 2001 (as Destiny's Child) Greatest Pop Star of 2003 Honorable Mention in 2006 Honorable Mention in 2009 Greatest Pop Star of 2014 Honorable Mention in 2016 #4 Pop Star of 2022 #3 Pop Star of 2023 1 1
liam13 Posted Wednesday at 06:45 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:45 AM (edited) inb4 they tease #2 with "top 2 and she's #2" Edited Wednesday at 06:45 AM by liam13 3
WEEKND Posted Wednesday at 06:47 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:47 AM Beyoncé is the better singer, the better dancer and the better entertainer so should be her. wont be the end of the world if it's Taylor tho. Her sales are great. 1
Brooklyn Baby Posted Wednesday at 06:53 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:53 AM Some of you care way too much about this list. It's time to go outside 5 1
ChooseyLover Posted Wednesday at 06:54 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:54 AM (edited) Sales haven't been the metric they've been using and Beyoncé's career actually includes the entire 21th century range... so that's something to take into consideration. Edited Wednesday at 06:54 AM by ChooseyLover 1
dussel_06 Posted Wednesday at 07:24 AM Posted Wednesday at 07:24 AM They're both winners. If for any reason that Miss Taylor cannot fulfill her duties, Beyonce will take over.
Eternal220 Posted Wednesday at 07:27 AM Posted Wednesday at 07:27 AM I think billboard will pick Taylor though I would be happy with either of them topping the list. Its a perfect top 3.
sasashite Posted Wednesday at 07:29 AM Posted Wednesday at 07:29 AM They literally said that chart position, streams and sales numbers play a big part in their final rankings. It's just not the only metric.
Klein Posted Wednesday at 07:35 AM Posted Wednesday at 07:35 AM 1 hour ago, The Music Industry said: The fact that people still try to downplay her impact is actually insane And the same people that will scream no impact will in the same breath say that pop music is boring because she made people go the singer-songwriter route instead of the prototype popstar. 2 hours ago, chiliam said: Stop screaming no impact at the wall and hope it sticks. The impact Taylor has been making for years, and now they already translate to fact and figure, like the influence she has on Gen Z artists (Sabrina, Gracie, Olivia, Rose', ...), the industry shift (streaming royalty, master conversation, ticketmaster...), real economy impact wherever her tour visit and the fight to get her to perform in their city, there`s no other stars have that much impact/power. ... and the rise of singer-songwriter to the point you cannot make it nowadays if you dont write your own songs. So you can have your vibe and giggle and mistake those for real impact and keep ignoring the fact and figure lay out in front of your eyes. And you might throw in the fact that Taylor walked so that the newer female teenagers (especially songwriters) can be taken seriously, while Taylor was met with a "this is good for a teenage girl" in her time (and then we saw critics do a 360 when they got to review the Taylor's Versions mind you, exposing their bias back in the day). And also the birth of poptimism of which she is regarded as one of the driving force behind it. OT: honestly, as I said in the other thread, I could see either go #1. Their achievements, impacts, culture prevalence and longevity speak for themselves. I could see Beyoncé being #1 as her career span the entirerity of the 21st century, while Taylor only came onto the scene in 2006 and actually broke through in 2008, giving Beyoncé a 6-years headstart. But Taylor's dominance in the years since has been much greater so I guess we'll see. It's definitely up in the air. Will be happy either way since I love both and will giggle either way since it's gonna be hell on ATRL when the results come in. 3
AxelFox Posted Wednesday at 07:41 AM Posted Wednesday at 07:41 AM Taylor swift sold more records/streams but Beyonce is far more accomplished as an entertainer. They could go either route. It's just a silly list.
PrettyHurts Posted Wednesday at 07:45 AM Posted Wednesday at 07:45 AM It should be Beyoncé. She began just before the 21st century and has remained iconic and successful throughout 2
Burn Posted Wednesday at 07:48 AM Posted Wednesday at 07:48 AM (edited) Taylor. But why are swifities being bitter in here saying if Beyoncé tops it it's because she must have paid for it? So if Taylor tops it it's because it must be true but if it's Beyoncé all logic everything she's achieved over the last 25 years (!) suddenly goes out the window and the only possible explanation is she must have paid for it? Some of yall really showing your ass. If Beyoncé was paying Billboard for achievements then why didn't she pay for #1 singles before Break My Soul? Why didn't she pay them to keep Cowboy Carter in the charts? Instead she paid to be on this list that even stan twitter barely knows about? Let's engage our brains please. Congratulations to Rihanna, Taylor and Beyoncé making top 3 irrespective of their positions, it's great to see these three lovely ladies on top. Edited Wednesday at 09:57 AM by Burn 1
kimberly Posted Wednesday at 07:52 AM Posted Wednesday at 07:52 AM should be Beyoncé because she fulfills their criteria better and she has been a force throughout the entire 21st century. but it will probably be Taylor because of recency bias / Swiftie social media pandering.
lonnie Posted Wednesday at 08:07 AM Posted Wednesday at 08:07 AM Goodness it's not that serious. Just enjoy it (or not) and keep it pushing. #3 is very good for Rih, she's been gone for a long time and she's still clearly very relevant and that's just the right spot anything higher wouldn't have made sense even though she's clearly one of the biggest music acts of all time given her nine (nearly ten) year hiatus. Bey or Taylor getting either one or two makes lots of sense too and the top three is a solid choice, actually one of the best lists overall I've seen in a while too. Billboard and Apple were smart stretching out these lists they clearly got the extended engagement they wouldn't have had if it were a one day affair. I wonder if lists are going to be like this now. 1

Kristie Kuwa Posted Wednesday at 08:28 AM Posted Wednesday at 08:28 AM Depends on what they prioritize. Taylor has the momentum with the Eras Tour, shes the money machine, the most successful musician commercially speaking, we live in "Taylor-mania" currently. Bey is way more avantgarde and daring. Shes become a symbol of continous seek of growth, shes breaking down barriers of racism and mysogyny, shes a trailblazer for what it means to become a dignified aging popstar, shes got the longer career, shes shaped modern RnB with her rap-singing style. It truly could go either way, tho as a fan and a fan of music, I'd give it to Beyonce. Her career is bigger than just numbers. She represents more than just her own commercial success, unlike Taylor. Shes become a political figure and a trailblazer, which puts her above Taylor imho. 2
Wicked Posted Wednesday at 08:37 AM Posted Wednesday at 08:37 AM The list is kinda ridiculous so does it really matter. lol.
Burn Posted Wednesday at 09:05 AM Posted Wednesday at 09:05 AM I can see the argument for both tbh. Taylor has had a massive peak over the last decade or so. Beyoncé has more years on Taylor and she's the only artist from her generation of stars (Britney, Xtina, Justin T etc) who is still topping charts and competing with newer artists. That's nothing to turn your nose up at. So it's a question of whether Billboard priorities Taylor's peak vs. Beyoncé's longevity.

Nicki Minaj 9. Drake 10. Lana Del Rey This should have been the top 10 in my opinion. I think this is the most fair one, not based on commercial success but pure impact on the industry, the people etc. Also, the statement about not releasing music for a long time, doesn't make sense to me and should not be something that should be part of their decisions. Y'all be stuck in bubbles if you genuinely believe this. Where on gods earth is Justin Bieber more impactful than Drake, or Gaga more than Taylor Swift? Kanye West is the most impactful and influential musician of the 21st century and you got him at #5 Anyways, can't take the crying about this list seriously when it's clear there's other metrics at play. It's just a Billboard list. Some of the meltdowns over this
