Blake's weight has fluctuated a lot over the years, so yes I do think it should be a rule of thumb to not comment on a pregnant woman's body unless they bring it up first or if it's very obvious. She then killed the interview by following up with a question about costumes... yes I know it's a period piece but the 1-2 punch of commenting on Blake's stomach and then clothes is just bad interview skills, especially coming from a female interviewer. It was July and she had a baby in August, so her baby was born at 5/6 months? Uhhhh 1

Maybe you're right, but my point about people opening interviews with conversations about her baby bump and then immediately following up with a question about costumes is still ****ing annoying if she's just trying to promote a film.

She played a fashionable character in a Period piece wearing clothing that's been out of style for eons, so a question like that is perfectly related to the movie. The baby bump comment might've been unwarranted but Blake just chose to be harsh and rude. Its just as much about her response than the question at that point. I think the other aspect is how she and the other actress literally just shut the interviewer out and roll their eyes at them. They know how to act in a press junket. Bosque Posted August 15 Posted August 15 (edited) I must be missing something because this is the most normal movie PR interview ever. I guess the internet decided to start a hate train on Blake for no reason, they'll have a new target soon enough. It's funny because "only the women are asked about dresses" is such a standard and harmless quip for female actresses to make in interviews, and most of them end up in "Girlboss Anne Hathaway/Scarlett Johannsen SCHOOLS misogynistic interviewer" compilations. The interviewer asked like 3-4 questions which seems totally fine for a 5 minute interview with two guests. You can clearly see Blake looking at the interviewer while she asks the questions, and then looking at her costar while they respond to the questions together in conversation. That is just how normal human beings behave. Edited August 15 by Bosque 3 2
ImpressMeMuch Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Another private jet has hit the Taylor swift girl boss towers 7
halcyonday Posted August 15 Posted August 15 That was so uncomfortable to watch omg they ignored her the entire time and the eye rolls at the end 1
Asparagus Spears Posted August 15 Posted August 15 People are so exhausting and sensitive. Ya'll better be giving men the same amount of hate too 1 2

As a result a number of unsuspecting people including DV victims were triggered and/or had breakdowns and anxiety attacks during the movie. The hate she's getting is well deserved. Skirting around a topic so serious as DV is gross. Btw to the people saying folks are digging things up... the interviewer posted this THEMSELVES as vindication for their mistreatment. Goes to show Blake has been awful for a long time folks on here love to be contrarian over perceived "witch hunts" on the internet when the reality is just awful people finally having karma catch up to them. That really sucks and I wish them the best but if you choose to see a movie without watching the trailer (which makes it pretty clear the plot is about DV/an abusive relationship) or fail to look up the synopsis of the movie or novel (the latter of which is super popular) and then have a negative reaction… that's not at all the fault of Blake Lively's press antics 💀💀 The dichotomy in tone about the movie from the two leads in the promo is weird but being upset over the content of a movie is not the fault of Blake in any way 1 2
bjorn Posted August 15 Posted August 15 I have always thought Blake Lively and her character in the Simple Favor were not too far off. I bet she's excatly like that in real life towards other women who isn't her closest friends. 2
bjorn Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Oh and not that video trending and having almost 1 million views in 4 days
shyboi Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Why do I feel like something must've happened before the interview? There was clearly tension before the thing even started, maybe the interviewer was rude behind the scenes? 1
babycomeround Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Clamoring about misogyny while promoting a Woody Allen film People do have it out for her though at the moment however.
truthteller Posted August 15 Posted August 15 i wont be policing how people should feel as they're entitled to how they felt at that moment when being asked questions about themselves... it was awkward to watch tho

I'm sorry but we need to collectively stop this infantilization/coddling of full grown adults. Blake may be annoying and out of touch but an adult watching a movie based on a notoriously bad book about domestic violence and then being 'triggered' is not her fault because she simultaneously is launching a hair care line. 1 2

Red Velvet Posted August 15 Posted August 15 That interviewer keeping this interview in a vault for 5 years waiting for the day Blake had a hit movie to release. You have to respect the revenge plan 1 6
Kevin2803 Posted August 15 Posted August 15 It's funny how she gets offended because of a question about clothes but now seems to not want to talk about anything else while promoting a movie about domestic violence. Anyway, i think there were worse celebrity interviews and if you want to work in this industry you have to deal with not everyone being nice. 1
