Poptart89 Posted August 13 Posted August 13 People questioning Camilas inclusion are totally valid because her era was a resounding fail, unfortunately, while Chappell & Sabrina are having massive years. 2 1

It doesn't matter if her current era is flopping or not, she is still the ONLY pop girl on this list to have actually won Video of the Year.. the most coveted award of them all. None of her pop counterparts other than Taylor have won it, btw. Also, just her simply wearing a shirt or leaving the gym produces at least 10 viral tweets with 100k+ likes LOL. She is VMA history and she brings in engagement... she was a no brainer imo. Anyone who believes otherwise is just a hater Edited August 15 by HarleyWin

Anyone who believes otherwise is just a hater Okay but that engagement is often driven by hate in social spaces so let's not be disingenuous about what that indicates. And that's fair, she did win and that's huge. I'm not taking that away from her. But that was 6 years ago. Outside of legends (Britney, Madonna, etc.) VMAs are about timeliness, trends, what's in now - hence Chappell & Sabrina. Camila still gets talked about in entertainment spaces but as a musical presence she's lost her impact. That was my point. I'm sure people will still tune in for her but not like they will for the other two I mentioned. In fact of the 3 names I mentioned her announcement had the lowest level of engagement. We need to be realistic about where Camila sits in the pop landscape these days. It's not fair because she is talented but it is the reality.
Ivan_brit Posted August 21 Posted August 21 I did not find the VMAS thread I guess I will post it here: More performers - LISA - Halsey - Benson Boone - Lenny Kravitz I'm exited for LISA, I hope she brings Rosalia Halsey… well I loved Lucky but it was flop
