Travel advice/tips to Japan + Korea?

Not been to Korea yet but for Japan:

Carry cash coz many places don't accept card.

Go early to big tourist attractions because they get crowded.

As long as you're respectful and not too loud, don't worry too much about cultural norms.

It depends what you like and where you plan to go but my highlights from Japan were Nara Deer Park, Harajuku, the onsen (I went in Odaiba), the Ghibli museum and TeamLabs.

The food is amazing and not that expensive. I think Osaka is the best city for food imo and Kyoto the worst (but still nice). The sushi and ramen I had there was so good. I found Kobe steak was kinda overrated but still very good. I preferred going for Yakiniku personally.

for japan:

- get a suica card, it is great for public transport / convenience stores / vending machines etc. you can get on your iphone, or get a physical card from the airport

- you might be too late to book, but the teamlabs exhibitions are brilliant (in tokyo)

I absolutely love Japan! I love most Japanese dishes and I have learnt a fair amount of Japanese (I will definitely say that I'm not fluent).

- In Tokyo, visit the Penguin Cafe

- In Yokohama, visit the Instant Noodles museum

- Buy things from the 100 yen stores! (Well, 110 yen with tax included). There are also stores like Daiso and Seriya with stuff at 100 yen, 200 yen, 300 yen etc.

- Buy lots of snacks!

- Try sushi, sashimi, seafood (scallops, crabs, sea urchin, lobsters etc...), tempura, kushiyaki (things on skewers)

- Go to outlet malls. I must say of the two times I visited outlets in Japan, Banana Republic stuff seems to be cheaper than expected.

- Remember to give yourself lots of time at the airport, so that you can shop tax free after going through customs. It seems that the prices for quite a lot of things are controlled, so something that costs 1100 yen at an attraction or in a gift shop downtown would cost 1000 yen because there's no 10% sales tax.
