Wicked Posted August 6 Posted August 6 She don't got the best female rap album of the year but she not lying. Her album was good tho
IBeMe Posted August 6 Posted August 6 she is right! it is the best. Idk how she hasn't broken out just yet. I know she isnt commercial per say but at least on tiktok youd expect her to have a viral track or something by now. I hope she keeps grinding and I hope she goes more alternative too. She is very creative and talented and funny and witty 1
Zachbbs Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Ok and what do all the naysayers in the comments propose the best album of the last 12 months is? Certainly not that monstrosity Ice Spice released? I know for a fact they are not thinking its Pink Friday 2? Like lets be so, so real. The bar is low for female rap currently, but CupcakKe released a solid album, the best one of the year by miles. 1
ICLDXU4HS Posted August 7 Posted August 7 She's right! I still hope she'll make a glossy, expensive album with top-notch producers one day. 1
FOCK Posted August 7 Posted August 7 (edited) She didn't lie, this year. An actually independent artisté Edited August 7 by FOCK 1 1
freshoutthebuffet Posted August 7 Posted August 7 (edited) She's a great lyricist but she definitely doesn't have the best female rap album of the year. Not this one or any other year, to be honest. She became a meme and she's really leaned into it since. so, talented? Yes. But in terms of creativity and creating a full body of work? Eh. EDIT: as of right now, the only decent albums by a female rappers this year are JT's and Megan's Edited August 7 by freshoutthebuffet 1
americanlife Posted August 7 Posted August 7 (edited) She's right, her album is amazing and she deserves more respect. She paved the way for a lot of these female rappers. Edited August 7 by americanlife
LittleCupid Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Rather than colorism, I have always thought if Cupcakke was a "baddie" that she'd get more mainstream attention. It has been said that she is too sexual or too much of a meme (a joke) to be taken seriously but many recent rappers with less talent get praised for the same things.
truthteller Posted August 7 Posted August 7 She could have achieved a sexxyred level kind of fame if she wanted but I guess that's hard to achieve without labels support.
YourFavoriteWeapon Posted August 7 Posted August 7 I agree with her, her talent is so overlooked and that album has contains one of her best songs. 1
GraceRandolph Posted August 7 Posted August 7 It's Elizabeth Eden Harris' year, and now her second cousin Kamala is about to be POTUS. 1
Slap Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Not the best, I would say Megan did that, but Cupcakke is severely underrated and I will always support her. She is everything the industry doesn't support and clearly there is space for her outside the incestuous homogeneous label world. Her songwriting is excellent too and she's just a nice ******* person who isn't afraid to be a bit different and weird - the Britney of rap 1
1989 Posted August 7 Posted August 7 MEGAN is absolutely the best female rap album this year hands down, but she's not wrong with the rest of her statement.

She is very creative and talented and funny and witty I feel like she has broken out as much as she can. Her music is very niche and has no GP appeal. Even tho I can see her having a hit a la WAP. overall I think she has a really successful career as an indie artist and I'm pretty sure through touring she can make good money. But I don't see her making it big. but maybe I'm wrong
Babydoll. Posted August 7 Posted August 7 shes fab on the mic but, like a lot of rappers, her album is bloaaated af.
Topaz Posted August 8 Posted August 8 To get 10 million streams in a month is a great feat for a independent female rapper tbh.
Dolce Vita Posted August 8 Posted August 8 honestly the things she's achieved without industry support is really impressive. i get her hesitation with signing to a major but it would be cool to see what a big campaign for a cupcakke album could look like
