Jon B drags Gunna & Chloe Bailey for sampling his classic song

:toofunny3: Jon B is valid in his feelings if they didn't get his blessing to use the sample. No one knows Jon B outside of that song honestly

so I understand whey he feels the way he does about it. Coming from the 90's R&B era, those songs were organically crafted by talented musicians and those musicians take their work very seriously.

The song was trash. Hes right...but the wording.

He has a black queen wife and black kids so ima need him to choose his words correctly. But either way, chloe..girl...that song wasnt worth the feature.

He has a song with Babyface & Tupac also that were hits

Well somebody cleared the sample because he's listed on the writing credits. Maybe he should've spoken up at the time if he didn't want them to use his song.

Y'all need to settle down especially with trying to say no one knows him except for one song which is factually incorrect. He might not be in the current consciousness (which let's be honest a lot of 90s R&B stars aren't except for a select few) he has more than earned his place. With that said, he really could have used his words better but I also feel that current artists need to stop using famous songs to sample to mask how mid they are.

all you have to do to clear a sample is clear it with the publisher. the publisher chooses whether or not to contact the artist. usually they don't they just say yes and accept the royalties. its completely legal and fine to do, but usually as a courtesy the sampler reaches out to the original artist to ask for their blessing.

the right said fred guys got mad about this with alien superstar.
