BOOM! Posted August 4 Posted August 4 The best tennis player in the world has now won everything that can be won! 8 2 5
Sawk Posted August 4 Posted August 4 I wanted Alcaraz to win, but Djokovic played good. It was clear he wanted it slightly more since he's not gonna be able to compete next Olympics. One of the best games in recent memory.
TeamThiem Posted August 4 Posted August 4 In tears! What a tremendous effort. GOAT of men's tennis! 2

bjorn Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Now he can retired. The Olympic gold was the only thing missing. Carlos will for sure probably take it next Olympics in 2028
NoAngelus Posted August 4 Posted August 4 This might be the happiest moment of my life. In a year that he just had, worst of his career, being beaten up left and right, possible career ending injury, decade past his prime, toughest draw at the Olympics on his least favorite surface beats 17 years younger player who is at his peak on his favorite surface coming after 2 gs wins in a row. And in what a way... Ths is how much it meant to him over the last 2 decades. Only the greatest athlete of all time. Thank you GOD! 3 4 1

And he won't find motivation anymore. Look what happened after historic 2015-2016 run, it took whole injury and tough recovery to motivate him back.

I hope he takes the rest of the year off to fully recover (if that is needed) and then compete for 1 final year in 2025 (and maybe even win 1 more Slam) he is still good enough, but yeah maybe he wants to retire on this high Congrats to the greatest athlete of all time Edited August 4 by TaylenaStan 2 1
OnlyManInTheWorld Posted August 4 Posted August 4 That was the most important match of his life and he delivered his absolutely best tennis. Only the GOAT 4

He proved once again like back in 2018 when he went from out of top 20 to #1 in like 2 months that ranking doesn't affect him when he is playing his best so he doesn't need the ranking anymore. But apparently there will be tournament again back in Belgrade next year so he might retire there. We know for a fact hat he was already gonna retire in 2021 because his mom accidently said in January 2020 that he was gonna play only for one more year 1
Bosque Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Amazing game Tbh Djokovic played quite a bit better than Alcaraz. It was not as close as the score suggests. And all that while being almost twice his age. For sure the GOAT 1
TeamThiem Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Please don't retire yet! lol He needs to play the US Open! I have Ashe tickets for Wed/Thurs week 1. I need to witness him play live on a big stage for myself. 2

Good luck booking that match you speak of jk, hopefully you'll get a chance to see him this year at US Open there are 3 possibilities: - he retires immediately - he continues playing because now he has his mojo back and can beat everyone - continues playing for tournament or 2 until he realizes there is no motivation anymore But he shouldn't retire this year because we already lost Andy, and Nadal is retiring for sure, he should play until next year.
