Everybody in this thread talking about substance abuse but he opened up in an interview with Zane Lowe that he partied lots in his early years as a touring musician until a negative experience with hallucinogens traumatized him & he hasn't taken drugs since. You can see him explain it himself in depth on YT. Nobody makes up a story with such specific details without any prompting. He's not abusing drugs, he's just an eccentric/oddball
