Space Cowboy Posted July 29 Posted July 29 https://mustsharenews.com/japanese-idol-good-night-photo/ Quote Momoka Tojo, a member of the Japanese idol group KATACOTO*BANK, has been instructed by her management to post a solo "good night" photo every day for a year after accidentally sharing a picture with her boyfriend. On Saturday (27 July), Tojo apologised on her X account for the unintended post from Friday (26 July), which featured her with her boyfriend. The photo, which Model Press reports was taken during Tojo's 20th birthday celebrations on 23 July, was mistakenly included in an announcement for an upcoming live performance. KATACOTO*BANK's management later disclosed that the man in question is "a regular person [Tojo] is currently dating". They also announced the following measures: Tojo must "maintain a certain distance" from her boyfriend As punishment, she must post a "solo good night photo" every night for a year Fans are encouraged to report any suspicions of her boyfriend appearing in these photos Tojo subsequently posted a handwritten apology on social media, expressing regret for her "careless action" and vowing to be more mindful of her responsibilities as an idol. Tojo began her 'punishment' with her first "good night" post on Saturday. In her caption, she wrote: "Good night. I'll do my best again starting tomorrow, so please continue to support me." Quote In the Japanese idol industry, public dating is often prohibited to maintain an image of "purity" for fans. A notable case was Minami Minegishi of AKB48, who shaved her head in 2013 as an apology after being caught spending the night at a male singer's apartment. F*cking gross and disgusting. Idol culture is so f*cked up. 1 2

Grizzo Posted July 29 Posted July 29 why do they have to maintain such a perfect and innocent image to the public? this is so backwards 1
Mephisto Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Literally insane. The idol culture needs to be ended for good. I'd rather to a regular job for minimum wage than sign a label contract with these conditions.
brazil Posted July 29 Posted July 29 What in the Black Mirror episode. Are there no labour rights in Japan? 5

Especially since it's not even uncommon that idols don't make enough money to pay off their debt for their training

The7thStranger Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Idol culture is the worst. The music is awful, and the performers are treated like garbage... What's to like? (And yes, I know we have this trash in the West with stuff like Making the Band.) 2 2
Blade Runner Posted July 29 Posted July 29 (edited) Not even mental illness. We need a new term for this. Remember this sh+t? Or this? When will the governments intervene? Because if this is what's happening in public, imagine the SH+TSHOW and abuse that's going on behind the scenes... Edited July 29 by Blade Runner 6

Kayseri Mantisi Posted July 29 Posted July 29 (edited) Her first "goodnight pic" Btw her tweets were getting 10 likes at max before this incident and her "group" has 100 monthly listeners on Spotify so I wouldn't be surprised if this is some kind of publicity stunt which even she supports y'all should investigate before posting Edited July 29 by Kayseri Mantisi 1 1
