UnusualBoy Posted July 25 Posted July 25 It'd be interesting to see how she does with the Grammys, especially in a year when she's going up against Billie, Taylor, Beyoncé and Kendrick and Chappell & Charli who may be the dark horses based on how well they're doing.
supertiffany Posted July 25 Posted July 25 can she win a major award like pop vocal or album or even soty/roty ? 1

thatsmydemi Posted July 25 Posted July 25 (edited) She better campaign because she's up against major artists with both acclaimed and successful projects. It's gonna be hard. Her biggest chance is either ROTY or Pop Solo. But then again, Idk. Grammys have treated new girls quite well in the past years (Dua, Megan, Olivia, Billie). Edited July 25 by thatsmydemi

Well the successful area is at this point secured for her. She's gonna have huge physicals numbers and streaming will be even bigger. The main factor will be the acclaimed aspect, she doesn't have any album listed on MC so this is like her debut and we have no idea how the critics will receive her but based on the Espresso and PPP I think a +70 score is just guaranteed but also an 80+ it's the huge goal to have HIGH chances to be on the battle to get those Grammy's

The people she's probably going to be against have had incredible album sales, hits and BIG acclaim. It's gonna be really interesting to see what's going to happen. Short N' Sweet being released before the deadline is also a good strategy because it's gonna continue creating buzz. There are cases in which releasing an album right before the Grammy's deadline could have positive results and I think this will be one of them because it will pull big numbers, making people talk about her for weeks probably.
Johnny Jacobs Posted July 25 Posted July 25 She will win one for sure with one of the non main categories
ATRL Moderator MissedTheTrain Posted July 25 ATRL Moderator Posted July 25 This will be an exciting Grammy season tbh! I think she has a strong shot at Pop Solo. I know Espresso seems bigger, but hopefully they submit Please Please Please because I think it's a much better song. Kind of annoying that Taylor won 2 for Midnights when TTPD is a much better album imo, and I doubt she will win any for it after this past year.
Goofy Posted July 25 Posted July 25 any other year she would've swept, but with Chappel, Billie, Taylor, Ariana & Beyonce it's gonna be a bloodbath
Alex Posted July 25 Posted July 25 she's in a unique position where she's not exactly new but she's broken through mainstream in a massive way that has a lot banking on her success. successful singles & tour is one thing but I'm sure her team wants the accolades and acclaim as well. Campaigning is the smartest thing to do in her case, and i'm sure she knows how to play the game.
Tm4074 Posted July 25 Posted July 25 46 minutes ago, supertiffany said: can she win a major award like pop vocal or album or even soty/roty ? Pop Solo is going to be her strongest category for a win. Similar to when Lizzo won that category with Truth Hurts in 2020 over giant hits from the big names like Bad Guy (ROTY/SOTY winner) and 7 rings. Espresso being one of the top 5 biggest hits this year pushes her ahead of the veteran household names likely competing with her in Pop Solo. Beautiful Things is probably her biggest competition since it's the biggest pop hit with chart longevity this year. However, Benson Boone is lacking momentum outside of that one song. It's also just as likely Sabrina will go home empty handed because her style of fun, tongue-in-cheek pop music is polarizing while songs like BT, BOAF and WCBF are more Grammy friendly - but again pop voters are less snobby compared to the GF so this bias might not effect her chances as much. Pop voters favor household names/veterans in BPVA so that will be a major uphill climb for Sabrina to win an album award. She will need a SOUR or WWAFAWDWG moment to be competitive here. Not impossible, but not likely. Chances are she will be competing against 3 previous winners (Taylor 2x, Ariana, Billie) and Chappell Roan who is another breakthrough artist with acclaim. Sabrina is sitting 4th/5th in that category atm. If her album is received well critically and by the GP (which I think it will) it improves her chances but still she's a long shot. If voters are going to award a "new" artist in this category it will be Chappell Roan. BPVA is Billie's to lose as of right now with Ariana being the dark horse. Sabrina getting nominated in the GF and getting pop nominations is a giant win for her though imo. Either way the GRAMMYs next year are going to be very exciting for pop fans. ATRL is going to be unusable lmao.
Poptart89 Posted July 25 Posted July 25 (edited) Commercially, she's competing with the big names, so that piece of the puzzle isn't really a concern in terms of appealing to Grammy voters. Short n Sweet has already outstreamed Cowboy Carter and Radical Optimism with just two songs and at this rate, it could very well end up outstreaming HMHAS upon release. The area her team will need to focus on is acclaim. And I think that's going to be hard. She's more of a fun pop girl than a traditional Grammy darling singer songwriter. I don't know that critics will take her seriously. But we'll see how Short n Sweet is received Edited July 25 by Poptart89

But we'll see how Short n Sweet is received I know she scored two big hits but the acclaim that both singles received it's because of its tongue in cheek lyricism that doesn't feel traditional/generic. On the other hand she proved herself to be a good songwriter with emails and having Jack producing half of Short N Sweet will benefit her. I know it's still huge competition and she has more adversity to snatch an award but she has the right team of producers/writers, the songs released so far received acclaim and success. We only have to wait for the album release to see if she enter to the battle with the big names. She has EVERYTHING but the product isn't still pot until august 23 and that will be the day that will determine the chances

Pop Album, Pop Solo, SOTY, ROTY and NA 2015-2024, female albums scoring multiple multimonth top 10s without help from features/feature remixes: sour, tun, 1989. 1989 won aoty and pop album. Sour won pop album. I suspect "tun" being Ari's first #1 and a big smash was a major factor in Sweetener winning pop album. It remains her only win for her own albums.
