Katy Perry - "Lifetimes"

Element
Message added by Element,

Please keep discussion in this thread focused on the song. Discussions about Katy Perry's larger scale career/choices, and other artists should NOT be done here. There are plenty of other places to do so on ATRL. Thank you!

I LOVED Katys first two eras and yes, she never was about deep lyrics BUT this song is just appallingly bad in the lyric department. It may be catchy but I won't listen again

This is bad, the lyrics. Sounds dated and a desperate attempt for another chart topper.

It's not a bad song, but it needed one more verse, a bridge and maybe a final chorus with a vocal change and she would have a moderate hit on her hands. The song like it is now will go nowhere just like WW, but at least it's listenable.

So this is her "comeback" :doc:

Uff this is as forgettable as it can get :skull: She's completely lost it.

I couldn't even finish it, I was that bored...

Lyrics are too basic, even my broken english ass could've come up with smth like this.

Production sounds too 2018-2020.

Same thing goes for woman's world as well.

Idk why people also keep talking about her "desperately trying to top charts". Katy has been through a lot during her career commercially speacking, she's reached untouchuble highs and undeniable lows. She has nothing to prove anymore and she has said many times now that she doesn't necessarily seek a #1 hit. And for who thinks that working with Luke is the prove of this desire, you need to reflect that maybe on a working level she just prefers him, also considering 143 is a dance pop album.

Last but not least, she has literally let fan choosing the second single, so what's the point of wanting to top the chart with a song that maybe wasn't even supposed to be single?!

I just still can't believe that trash like this is the outcome of choosing to work with that thing. :skull:

it's really not that much better than WW :rip: she and Luke have both lost their touch, despite the dancey production it's just painfully generic and repetitive to the point of just being boring

What's with this trend of songs not going anywhere, multiple instances of it with Dua's album too.

You don't even need a beat drop, but give a memorable/punchy hook, bridge or something! :rip:

It's not as actively bad as Woman's World but it's all very dull and elevator music-y.

Don't wanna stand out in spotify playlists and challenge tiktokers with having to choose a Spot

She's completely lost it I fear. This is boring and forgettable. Does not have the "Katy Perry" spark she used to have

Painfully boring and doesn't really go anywhere. Maybe third times the charm?

It's not a bad song, but it's so generic.

It's like someone put Katy Perry through a hot wash too many times and she's come out a bit thinned out and faded.

I actually think this is a huge upgrade from Woman's World. Sure, the lyrics are very basic, but at least it's a bop. Unfortunately, the entire song sounds like it's on one level and it doesn't go up or down, if that makes sense. Will I dance to it when I hear it? Yes. But I don't think I'll be actively listening to it on my own. It's just not that memorable.

Lifetimes is taking it I fear

honestly it's really fun and i love the punchy production but the fact that it has 1 verse and no bridge..okay girl

This won't debut in spotify top 200 :rip:

I've seen the video way more than WWs lol

I gave it one stream and thats it. On YT so the stream wont probaly even count... meh . Im gonna stream the album to listen to Nirvana but its clear the album will be a flop regardless. Too much hate for all the tone deaf career moves. Lifetimes only verse what was that and yeah i was not excited after hearing that chorus in too many snippets before release .... ironic that she called an artist a throwback now she is one for her teenage dream era.

I also can't believe she worked on this album for 18 months :rip:

I mean, it's definitely an improvement over WW (still a basic song), but I don't think the GP (the twitter gays, or whatever her public is) will check it out after that colossal disaster. They should've gone with this as the first single as there was hunger for her comeback

It's very ...London circa 2015/16. I don't hate it. :jamming: :fan:
