Katy Perry - "Lifetimes"

Element
Message added by Element,

Please keep discussion in this thread focused on the song. Discussions about Katy Perry's larger scale career/choices, and other artists should NOT be done here. There are plenty of other places to do so on ATRL. Thank you!

My Spotify algorithm followed this song with: Applause - Circus - Ready for It. I don't get how each of those songs have significantly better production despite being much, much older.

Circus does but Applause was a dated mess on arrival.

Lifetimes is a classy house bop with pleasant vocals which not everyone can have

All of Bonnie's recent material have been awful :coffee2:

Y'all need to just get behind Lifetimes. It'll be hit in the clubs while we wait for Nirvana which could be the hit on this album.

Bonnie and Katy made genuine magic on Teenage Dream; whatever they came up with was bound to be better than Puke's reductive and lazy sh*t

And Luke was the main producer behind most of Bonnie and Katy's work together :celestial5:

Bonnie has been jealous and shady towards Katy for many years for whatever reason. They're never working together again. Period.

This Bonnie stuff needs to stop. 2010 was a lifetime ago (pun intended). Just because they collab'ed on hits then doesn't mean they could do it again now.

The verses sound disjointed from the chorus (which is SUPER catchy) and bring the whole song down. The production sounds like something a high schooler with GarageBand can produce. I am shocked to say maybe WW is even better than this.

One thing forsure is this is a harmless Bop!

I wish there was a second verse but overall this is better than the first single

Cute house song. Safe and generic. We will be streaming it. :clap3:

It's very cute. Reminds me of the summery house-infused bops we had in like 2015-2017 ish.

If it was the lead, I feel like it would've had a fighting chance to become a smash but now following up after the colossal mess that WW was, I'm not so sure this has a chance…either way, definitely the right step in the direction!

Why would she spend all her budget in WW MV. :ahh:

You can tell the LT MV was filmed with an iPhone and the budget ran out.

Does anyone else think she sounds like Shania Twain a bit with her vocals? Or maybe it's how Luke distorted them a bit to give it a twang sound? I've never heard her like this before. I dig it. It shows a new dimension to her vocal.

This is cute, nothing groundbreaking, but it's fun, super accessible, catchy, upbeat & what people wanted from her imo. Should've lead with this. :hippo:

Don't we have live counting streams for this?

I remember there was an account on twitter that updated WWs number.

I couldn't recognize the spain accent of the background voice in the beginning of the video

It's a cute carefree bop :jamming: Not that it's S P E C T A C U L A R or anything, but it would've been a siginificantly better comeback single for the "Fun, & Carefree" Katy Perry brand. I bet less people would've mentioned the Dr. Luke thing too if the lead wasn't literally called WOMAN'S world :clown:

How was Applause dated in 2013? What older songs did it sound like in 2013? :deadbanana2:

Bonnie's indie production ate up Dr Luke. This is what Katy wish she was serving for 2010 nostalgia. The production discrepancy is insane.

The Nintendo sounding production was dated on arrival sis.

Thank you for proving my point. Every upbeat Bonnie song sounds like a derivative of American Girl (which is a massive bop that I will admit). She lost her magic a long time ago :celestial5:
