Katy Perry - "Lifetimes"

Element
Message added by Element,

Please keep discussion in this thread focused on the song. Discussions about Katy Perry's larger scale career/choices, and other artists should NOT be done here. There are plenty of other places to do so on ATRL. Thank you!

I like the verse more than the chorus

"for eternity" is the best part :clap3:

I should never expect an explosive chorus like in her older songs although its still very earworm and has greater replay value. The MV reminds me alot to Teenage Dream.

It might be another Luke track but at least this is significantly better than Woman's World.

It's not touching Katy's absolute best (Teenage Dream, Never Really Over, Wide Awake)… but it's pretty darn good. Same ballpark quality wise as Walking On Air.

I don't expect anything from this era to stick but it would be nice if this did better than Woman's World… at the very least.

Please drop Puke for KP7 Kathryn… you're better than this.

Please, don't come for me KatyCats, but…

Ugh, I really wanted to like this, but this won't do anything for her either. :gaycat6:

NRO was such a huge step in the right direction sonically, but this feels so… weird. I don't even know how to describe it.
Katy is so much more capable of than a light, dance beat, which feels cheap.
It feels like they didn't even try, but I hope they'll prove me wrong with the rest of the album.

I need her to go back to full on big pop bangers with heavy instrumentals. I don't know how to really describe this, but this feels so uninspired and lifeless.

Already #1 on iTunes Argentina, Mexico and Kazakhstan. But I thought she was over?
What will the OKHs say now?

The only complaint I have is: who tf told her it was ok to release this without a second verse?

As others have said, this could've had legs if released instead of WW. They fumbled HARD!

I know, a key change or a variant in the final chorus would have been awesome too!

Still enjoyable. I think I just need to listen to the album in whole to get her vision haha!

I find it very interesting that the song was posted to Apple Music with no credits. I could only wonder why... :chick1:

That actually happens a lot with new releases and doesn't update for like 24 hours :heart2:

i really love this and will be streaming non stop but she's become such a lazy songwriter. this needed a second verse and a bridge :emofish:

The way the music video is miles better and has more replay value with half of the budget or the effort behind World War...

ugh another CHOP

it sounds like they were struggling to build the song around that chorus (which is not even strong melodically), verse is boring, none existing bridge, grating production. Yike her team is unbelievably useless

It's completely fine, it's just there.  I don't know what else to say.  Maybe it'll get good airplay on the radio.

Wasn't too sure about it on the first full listen tbh :sistrens:

Have now listened to it on repeat a few times and definitely love it. This should have been the lead, it's a shame she blew all the hype on Woman's World, but this may have potential to out chart THAT song and be a top 50 hit :eddie:

Never Really Over really was her comeback. She just didn't do any promotion for it and then let it die, to put all her eggs into Small Talk.

Which is the stupidest decision of her career. Smile not being a successful era was mostly because she allowed the hype to die down.

But this song and video is literally a Rita Ora b-side. It's not going to do anything.

not it already getting worse spotify playlists placements than a new Anne Marie song jjjfjfjfjfjfjf :bibliahh:

Ok I'm just going to say it: I think her voice is underrated. Idk how she performs live, but she sounds unreal in this record. Too bad the lyrics and production are generic. If she got with someone like Sia or Justin Parker to make something minimally heartfelt I bet it'd be a hit. Her voice is just so expressive
