Popular Post Kayseri Mantisi Posted July 17 Popular Post Posted July 17 (edited) On her new Billboard interview, there's a part about the Girl So Confusing remix with the full lore from both Charli & Lorde's own words: Spoiler Like many of brat's songs, figuring out the subject of "Girl, so confusing" isn't difficult — which is why Charli reached out to Lorde ahead of its release. "I had to go through the process of telling her that this song is about her and her being OK with that first," Charli explains. "I was trying to meet up with her for almost a year, and we kept having this weird, like, we were [going to], then we wouldn't. It spoke to the narrative of the song itself. In the end, it didn't work out. Then the day before the record came out, I left her a voice note. [Lorde] replied straight away and was like, 'Oh, my God, I had no idea you felt this way. I'm so sorry.' And then was like, 'You know, maybe I should be on a version of the song.' I didn't even ask her. She brought it up. "So much of this rollout was planned, but sometimes it was not," she continues. "Lorde's remix of 'Girl, so confusing' is a perfect example. That wasn't planned. It took three days total." Within a few days, Lorde cut her verse. She sent it off to Charli and then headed out to attend the Brooklyn Paramount show. Lorde tells Billboard her first reaction to the song was a "two-part thing of both deep empathy for my friend and this feeling of 'Man, I've been misunderstood, and I really want to make it right.' " "It's funny," Charli says. "When I was listening to [Lorde's] verse for the first time, I was backstage at the show. My hair stylist also does her hair. He had also just done her hair for the show, too, so he was just with her, and then he came to me and was like, 'I'm so happy you guys are good.' " "When I was writing this verse, I was saying these things to her for the first time," Lorde says. "There was such a rawness and an immediacy to what I was saying. I love that we truly did work it out on the remix. There's something very brat about that, something very meta and modern. Only Charli could make that happen. She had opened up a channel between us, and it made me say things that I had never said. I was articulating things I'd never said or maybe even things I've never even heard said. This whole thing has been such a huge honor." Thank you Lorde for your genius idea & continuing to shape the pop culture https://www.billboard.com/music/pop/charli-xcx-brat-billboard-cover-story-interview-1235732025/ Edited July 17 by Kayseri Mantisi 8 9

CottageHore Posted July 17 Posted July 17 I love how candid Charli is being in sharing about her creative process. And the way it's so raw and came to both of them so naturally is so cool. Coolest collab ever I fear 3

I did back in the day, it was March 2023 tell the love interest in 2 of my albums, that i was building a musical universe around him, and if he had a problem with it, he could ask me to stop. And i got blocked so i took it as a sign, and now 16 months later the first album is out and the second one is almost finished being written. But i didn't need him to respond since i had already sent him Gush a month after i wrote it. And he told me it was a beautiful song and to take care. What wasn't my decision was him saying hi to me one year later on the street and then him sending me his nudes a year after that. Weird right? Sure what i didn't show him were track 2 and i'm pretty sure he didn't like the lyrics i told him i wrote for track 4 on the ride back to Berklee. But i was writing an album. Sure, if i hadn't ended the relationship the album could have been different. But the album you got was the album that you were meant to receive. So these two magical encounters that he initiated are the inspiration behind the third album in the trilogy. And i do blame everybody for this. I blame everybody for this because i was with my producer and i showed him The Stairs and it wasn't sounding good, but then i showed him Roses and he did an excellent job. So that was the day i decided we were going to make AirPods. Then, the day after i published the first part of the novella Selena announced Love On, then when Selena dropped Love On i decided it was time to check back in with him since associating him with Love On i thought was really cute. And ever since then i've been writing Roses in his DMs and it for about 5 months was a great place to be writing Roses. So, when i have some free time i will be moving on to the next phase which will be moving these characters around and building storylines where i move all of them around, where it's Aaron, and Selena. Because Selena's character likes tapping into the life and feelings of Mark. And so basically what happens is that while Selena is in her house chilling, Mark is going around ***** all these boys. Selena has magic powers and she has a fascination with Mark. So she ends up sending her childhood best friend Aaron into Mark's life so that Aaron could inspire Mark to help write her next album. So essentially what happened is that for example, when Mark broke up with Aaron Selena released Feel Me a week later. And then in April, Selena released a song about meeting somebody in August and kissing all over a hotel room because we met in August and kissed all over a hotel room. Then De Una Vez came out AND IT'S FROM AARON'S PERSPECTIVE. And that whole EP is about Aaron getting over Mark. And then Selena took a break and released her documentary and then she continued telling the story with Single Soon. So Roses is kind of about what if the entire music industry was just telling different aspects of this story on and on because the three of us are literally the coolest people of all time. What the ****
