As much as Argentina deserves its lashings for being incredibly racist there's not much truth behind Argentina "killing" its black population. Not that many enslaved Africans were imported to Argentina and most either a) mixed with the local population b) moved to Uruguay (which has a noticeably bigger black population at like 5% compared to barely 0.5% of Argentina) c) died in wars. There was no genocide of Afro-Argentines

Indigenous maternal haplogroups in Argentina are still very prominent (like some 40%?), showcasing the mating patterns of European men (immigrant or conquistador) having children with indigenous women and the descendants getting gradually more white due to marrying white men

 

I believe if anything Argentina had genocides against its indigenous people, though I don't think they had as many to begin with compared to other countries

OT: This is related to the typical case of the first world attacking third-world countries and latinos being considered "inferior". While it's not right and I agree that Argentine players should be held accountable for their statements, let's not forget that this is an underlying issue that gets overlooked by football matches and competition.

Starting from the Copa America final, Lionel Messi is out of football for 40 days.

So he's not present in the game to fix any of this like he did with Brazil in 2021, with PSG in 2023 and with China this year.

I'm not surprised by how normalized racism is in Argentina in the comments, Mexicans and Brazilians have been telling you how racist and xenophobic Argentinians are and how normalized they have it, like racism runs in their blood (nazi-land), they deserve the s**thole they're going through.

No todos los argentinos son racistas, lo sabemos. En México hemos abrazado a muchas figuras argentinas a lo largo de los años y siempre habrá cariño mutuo. Es una lástima que la parte racista y escandalosa de su país (quiero pensar que son menos que la mayoría) contamine la percepción que tienen muchos en el exterior sobre toda una nación.
