Argentina's soccer team sings racist & transphobic chants after Copa America victory

Mbappe is right here though lol. He was purely talking about football, where European countries have more stacked and competitive teams than South America. Currently, South America only really has Argentina as a top team that can compete with the likes of Spain, Germany, Croatia, England, etc., especially since Brazil has been underperforming. Even if you believe Mbappe's comments were in bad taste, responding to football criticism with racism and transphobia is unacceptable.

I'm sorry you cannot see that Mbappe's comment is related to Europe being superior to Latin America. That comment is not related to football, it has a deeper meaning.

You can't say that Argentina is racist and xenophobe because they "believe they are european" but then having alzheimer when discussing Europe's tendency to believe Latin Americans are inferior.

Argentina is one of the most racist countries worldwide and needs some corrective laws and education ASAP.

That's why we have people from all over the region come study for free and have free healthcare, and most people choose Argentina because it's possible to have a better life (even considering the big economic problems we have).

Every country has their fair share of racism. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...

OT: This is related to the typical case of the first world attacking third-world countries and latinos being considered "inferior". While it's not right and I agree that Argentine players should be held accountable for their statements, let's not forget that this is an underlying issue that gets overlooked by football matches and competition.

This false equivalence is flat out disgusting

What. Were the players forced to engage in racism while recording themselves?

It is not. I'm SO sorry that you feel threatened about discussing other forms of systematic discrimination aside from the one generated towards afro-descendants

Also, should we consider in this conversation the difference "afroamericans" do between them and afrolatinxs? Because that happens, A LOT.

ATRL is not ready for this conversation. It's better to stick to Woman's world underperforming or sth like that.

What? His statement is literally about football? Only 2 out of FIFA's top 10 best men's international football teams are South American (Argentina and Brazil), with the rest being European. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say perhaps there was a superiority complex in his tone (which again is pushing it). However, Argentina is the loser in this situation no matter how you look at it because literally nothing Mbappe said justifies Argentine players or fans responding with racism or transphobia.

Also, I never said what you claimed in your second sentence, so I don't know why you responded to me with that.

Ok but what singing this? Even in 2022 they won so why the obsession with France?

Mbappe brought this to himself

He attacked football is south america in Brazil. That's why a lot of people hate him here

"In South America, football is not as advanced as in Europe, that's why when you look at the last World Cups it's always Europeans who win."

And then he lost the world cup to Argentina

If a pop girl did this they would be dragged forever. His comments were already problematic

Well it is not. I'm sorry you're not catching the reference, but it's not that difficult. It's about Europe vs. Latin America / First World Countries vs. Third World Countries / Civilization vs. Barbarism

And again, I condemn these players and that disgusting song.

Mbappé is not hated in Brazil :rip: Most of the comments in the video you posted are Brazilians agreeing & praising him.

This situation not only exposed his racism and transphobia but also his outright stupidity. This idiot has seven Black-French teammates whom he will be returning to train with in a few weeks. :deadbanana4: All of them have unfollowed him, and one has publicly denounced him in a tweet that currently has 161K likes:

So we're going to let him attack  third world teams and players without taking into account the economic previledge he has by playing in rich countries. Let's bring racism into the conversation but also let's talk about how priviledged he was because of where he was born and how out of touch with reality his comments were. I guess a lot of you are going to like that part uh

If we go by comments in youtube which is super dumb look at the comments in the enzo video. All people are saying they are african and they agree that they hate their players cannot play for their own teams. We know that's not a representation of reality.

The racism they harbor, especially towards Peruvians and Bolivians due to their indigenous heritage, is awful.

There are native people here too can you google something before saying shite just to say it? The northern part of the country that is close to those countries share similarities in physical complexion AND hundreds of bolivians and peruvians choose to LIVE HERE. This BS of "everyone is blonde" is just not true so check that before speaking to speak

Regarding Brazil, our universities are FULL of Brazilians who have to come and study (FOR FREE and ON SCHOLARSHIPS) because they cannot access university education in their own country. Then they can freely leave with their degree in hand to practice their profession in THEIR COUNTRY, and no one complains about it. I recommend talking to them and seeing how grateful they are to have a neighboring country like Argentina.

The only Brazilians that go study in Argentina are underachievers who didn't get good enough grades to get into Brazilian universities, so they go to the Argentinians cause it's easy and cheap to get in  and when they come back they have to take a bunch of tests and adaptation courses. It's not highly regarded at all.
