The chant also includes transphobic insults directed at French player Kylian Mbappé and his ex-girlfriend Inès Rau, who is trans.

Disgusting, but I just know the football fans won't care. I hate how these people are paid millions and given free passes for everything.

These chants were first created during the 2022 World Cup, hence the shots at Mbappé despite him no longer being with his girlfriend.

Not surprised. Racism and white supremacy is very normalized there and in Uruguay.

It's not France, they are obsessed with Mbappe. He eliminated them in 2018 and in 2022 he almost frustrated their gift with 3 goals in the final.

He's their worst nightmare + he's a Cristiano fanboy+ now he's at Real Madrid. Basically he is a mega combo lmao

I honestly did not think this would take off the way it has. Football players, including black teammates of Enzo Fernández - the player who was livestreaming himself and the team singing the racist chants - are unfollowing him, and clubs and federations are actually taking action. It's good that it's caught media attention. However, it's sad that the transphobic part of the chant is being completely ignored by the federation, media, and fans. It will always take a lot for the football world to genuinely take action against homophobia, let alone transphobia.

Argentinians are infamous for their racism, arrogance, pride, and overall bad attitude. Nobody in LATAM likes them

That's why we have people from all over the region come study for free and have free healthcare, and most people choose Argentina because it's possible to have a better life (even considering the big economic problems we have).

Every country has their fair share of racism. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...

OT: This is related to the typical case of the first world attacking third-world countries and latinos being considered "inferior". While it's not right and I agree that Argentine players should be held accountable for their statements, let's not forget that this is an underlying issue that gets overlooked by football matches and competition.

Mbappe is right here though lol. He was purely talking about football, where European countries have more stacked and competitive teams than South America. Currently, South America only really has Argentina as a top team that can compete with the likes of Spain, Germany, Croatia, England, etc., especially since Brazil has been underperforming. Even if you believe Mbappe's comments were in bad taste, responding to football criticism with racism and transphobia is unacceptable.

Between this and Brazil pressuring Spain to persecute the people who attacked Vinicius Jr., is racism finally starting to be taken seriously in footbal?

As a Southamerican I would say I'm shocked but I'd be lying. All Latinos de raudal know that our cute sister Argentina has always had a superiority complex, and generally, we get along well among ourselves. However, there are often tensions with Argentina. The racism they harbor, especially towards Peruvians and Bolivians due to their indigenous heritage, is awful. The majority of the population in argentina is very white, many are blond and of Italian origin. So, they see Mexicans, Colombians-Venezuelans..., Caribbean countries, Central Americans, and Brazilians countries where the're so much racial mixing as lesser....:giraffe:

Of course makin such a generalization is a mistake. There are millions of argentinians. Good, bad....But yes this is a cultural problem of some of them
They need to solve this. :gaycat3:

The soccer coup should go to Colombia instead :gaycat2: strip them from the cup and give it back to Colombia even if we were a mess in the finals too lol :gaycat6:
Make them pay for their mistakes :chick1:

Oh my... the amount of lies.

Peru and Argentina have an AMAZING relationship. In fact, Perú is one of the only countries in the world that still say that the Islas Malvinas belong to Argentina.

Argentina is the country with the most Bolivian migrants, all of whom enjoy rights as citizens (public health and education) and can apply for residency and citizenship. The northern borders are open so they can receive medical care in our hospitals even if they are not citizens.

Venezuelans consider Argentina to be the most friendly and supportive country during their migration due to Chavismo/Madurismo.

Regarding Brazil, our universities are FULL of Brazilians who have to come and study (FOR FREE and ON SCHOLARSHIPS) because they cannot access university education in their own country. Then they can freely leave with their degree in hand to practice their profession in THEIR COUNTRY, and no one complains about it. I recommend talking to them and seeing how grateful they are to have a neighboring country like Argentina.
