I feel like in recent times this has been the most iconic novela. The most talked about at the time it was released and still very much talked about. I still see viral posts about it from time to time on TikTok, X, IG.

So many iconic scenes.

It is Televisa's latest classic. Since that telenovela they have not had another success like it. And even though it's been more than ten years since its original broadcast it's still very popular, as you said. It was recently rebroadcast at 2:30 p.m. (as I recall) in Mexico and had higher ratings than the prime time telenovelas :dies:

Recent times* Betty is from 1999.

Betty is a case apart, it is the most successful telenovela of all time. After her, the same phenomenon has not been repeated. Recent telenovelas, such as Teresa (2010), is from the new era of telenovelas, which although it was successful, its popularity does not compare at all to Betty nor to many classic telenovelas that Latin America has created. Nowadays, telenovelas no longer work the same way and their popularity has been declining. Teresa has been one of the few telenovelas of the last twenty years that have achieved great popularity, it has become a classic in the genre, but, I repeat, nothing will ever match Betty. Never.

Same and I don't even know why. I thought it was re-released or something, but seems like it just got its Betty La Fea moment and everyone is watching it right now I guess :dies:

Aside from Betty la Fea and Pasion de Gavilanes it's probably the most iconic/popular telenovela of all time

Well, still I'm not sure how popular Teresa is in Latin America, maybe it was too local, unlike Betty :lakitu:

I have no idea, to be honest. I don't even know if it was successful in Brazil, in that country Mexican telenovelas have been very popular. I can only speak for Mexico, because I live here, and I have seen that it is still very popular despite being a novela from 2010. But in the genre of telenovelas globally it is one of the most popular. I recently saw a reddit thread of people learning Spanish watching telenovelas and that was one of the most popular. The Betty phenomenon is a very movie-like case, she is loved even by people who don't usually watch telenovelas. Generally Teresa is within the taste of those who love that genre.

Betty La Fea is untouchable. I think it's the most successful 'novela' of all time.

It's had a cute resurgence as of late but I am not sure I'd name it one of the most iconic though

Yeah, I understood it all. And same here, I'm from Mexico and I can definitely tell from my own experience that Teresa was huge and still is a huge phenomenon. Still, I can't tell how it did in other Latam countries :gaycat3:

¡Saludos, paisano/a!

Are there any Brazilians here who can at least tell us if Teresa was successful in their country?

In Brazil, Mexican telenovelas  have a large audience; they say that La Usurpadora has been the most successful foreign telenovela in that country.

But, as I said above, telenovelas have been on the decline, not only in Mexico, but all over the world.

Those are way older, of course they're iconic but Teresa was really the last great telenovela, the finale was an EVENT here, even me and my friends would group call together every day to see the new episode. Idk if there's been any after like it
