In a new interview with Comsopolitan:

 

Perrie on a lack of communication with ex-bandmate Jesy Nelson, stating "We don't talk and haven't done for a long time, It's really sad, it's heartbreaking."

The 31-year-old singer expressed her regret to Cosmopolitan over the way things unfolded after Nelson, 33, left the group in 2020 due to mental health concerns.

 

Edwards said: "But sometimes these things happen and people decide they want to part ways, and that's absolutely fine. I would rather it went differently, but you can't control how things go."

It is sad they were all so close, especially Perrie and Jesy.

 

Guess this confirms the song Perrie wrote about a former friend she hopes to make up with in the future is Jesy. After she hears some home truths that is.

Unfortunately, Jesy was quite selfish with the girls who did nothing but love her and support her, she turned her back to the fanbase that supported her and defended her. I don't hold grudges against Jesy nor have ill feelings toward her but she burned her bridges, big time.

Lowkey, I feel like a reunion or reconciliation might have been possible if Jesy had JUST decided to leave. However, after that Leigh-Anne and Nicki mess, I doubt either Perrie or Jade will befriend Jesy again.

why jesy alienated her fanbase and her bandmates so hard and suddenly during their career peak will not make sense to me especially knowing she was the underdog in the group next to leigh-anne…but whatever i guess girl groups really will never not be without animosity

I agree, it will take A LOT to mend things. I personally cannot see a reunion with the four but I hope they can all atleast be civil one day.

 

I hope she has the balls to apologise to them and try to make up. That bond between the four was so special.

uhm… her first single is literally a sample, and as if it's not enough the music video is also a carbon copy. (Don't get me wrong sampling is okay but there is nothing creative about the song and she literally tried to make it her persona.) Not even mentioning her racebaiting. And as for Bad Thing, as much as I love the message, it's a huge flop. And she's nowhere to be seen since that. Yeah the talent jumped out

I never heard LM song in my life but even I remember PR machinery going against her once she left. They made whole fanabse turn on her. They knew what they were doing.

Except not really? She quit the band, blocked the girls, said she was focusing on her mental health, released her lead single shortly after and publicly allowed Nicki Minaj to drag the girls on Instagram as part of her promo campaign. I'm not sure what PR machinery you are talking about.

I knew nothing about the band or the girls, but once I saw someone left my feed was filled everywhere with negative stories about her, and even coming from management and bandmates. And that was before that song with Minaj,

So yeah, they definitely pushed her under a  bus and portrayed her as a villain after she left the band.

 

If she needed to get out of that to save her mental health ofc she was gonna distance herself from everything and everyone. That's how leaving usually works.

Other 3 were just jealous she left first and they had to fulfill contract before starting solo careers.

First single panned, dropped by her label, 2nd single failed to chart anywhere and yet to surpass 1.6 million streams on Spotify after 15 months... I think the other girls are handling it just fine

Dude, you literally have ZERO IDEA what you're talking about, most of us got to experience LM's journey, especially what Jesy endured and how the girls supported her until the day she left. This is not a matter of the girls being jealous she left first, like, what a stupid take that is, this band lasted for 10 YEARS before they decided to go on a hiatus.

She literally tried to kill herself again and was hospitalised during the end of her time in LM. She said this in an interview after she left.

 

But yes the girls also tried to educate her. It is not just one thing that caused her to leave.
